"At first i really liked this office and Dr. Blache. But i had expressed concerns to Dr. Blache for months, since our first appointment with her when my daughter was a newborn, that i suspected she had a tongue tie, which was causing us issues with breastfeeding, and her latch on the nipple and a bottle was poor and gave her a lot of gas. Dr. Blache repeatedly dismissed my concerns and insisted there were no ties. At four months my daughters weight plateaued, and she didn’t gain anything since her two month appointment. We were admitted to the hospital for failure to thrive. i was made to not breastfeed my daughter, only pump and give her bottles of expressed breastmilk or formula if i did not pump enough. She also gave us Puramino formula and stated that our daughter had a cows milk protein allergy, without even testing her for it first. Our daughter shows no symptoms of having that allergy other than gas, and that specific formula is $50 a can! There’s babies who DO need that formula and we’re in a formula shortage as it is. I felt uncomfortable taking from babies who do need it when our daughter doesn’t, and regular formula was fine because my milk was not the issue. Dr. Blache assured me and the baby’s father that if we had her admitted to the hospital we would see a speech pathologist to have our daughter examined while she eats. That never happened, instead Dr. Blache told us to stay on a schedule of feeding her every three hours and to triple feed. Meaning that breastfeed for no longer than 20 minutes, then we give her a bottle of breastmilk or formula, and i pump. This schedule is highly unrealistic and has made it to where neither my daughter or i are getting any rest because it takes an hour and a half to get through feeding and burping her, then another hour to fall asleep, by the time she’s asleep i have to wake her to eat again. because of all of this Child Protective Services opened a case against us claiming i was refusing to give her formula and she was failure to thrive. after moving to Florida and having CPS transfer the case to Florida, i was able to take my daughter to another doctor at the request of CPS to have her evaluated for neglect. My mom took her alone, and never even mentioned anything to the doctor, and within 15 minutes he identified her tongue tie, and buccal ties. He confirmed the reason she had stopped gaining was from the inability to transfer milk, because her tongue tie was keeping her from having a proper latch. He also confirmed she has no cows milk protein allergy and we did not need to give her the Puramino formula at all. My child suffered for months, i am having to deal with CPS, and have had an immense amount of stress all because Dr. Blache was negligent. If she had listened to my concerns in the beginning we could have avoided being hospitalized at all. And i wouldn’t have had to deal with all of this, and watch my daughter suffer. I was made to feel like there was something wrong with ME and my breastmilk, and i was starving her, by this office and all the staff at SGMC. Anytime there’s something going wrong and the baby is breastfed, it’s immediately blamed on breastfeeding and the mothers milk. Dr. Blache did not do her job, she wanted me to accommodate the problem by triple feeding instead of doing her job as a pediatrician and finding the cause of the problem so that it could be solved. I do not recommend bringing your babies to this office, especially if you’re a breastfeeding mom. I am disappointed that pediatricians do not listen to parents because they think they know everything. I spend 24/7 with my daughter, Dr. Blache saw her for 20 minutes every month. Doctors don’t always know everything, but when they pretend they do it’s at the cost of the child. If i could rate anything less than one star, i absolutely would."
