"DO NOT PUT YOUR CHILD IN THIS SCHOOL! I have never heard of a school suspending a Kindergartener. There are some things that a text book or a million years of continuing education classes will NEVER teach a person about a child unless you have had one yourself. This teacher doesn't have children and the method that she uses when a 5 year is being a 5 year old is to ignore them and then write them up for responding - like a 5 year old. I have never had any complaints from any prior educational institution or prior educator. Since enrolled, many calls have been made, almost every day about the smallest things that a typical 5 year old would do. (I saw this also mentioned in another review from a parent.) After sitting in on a video meeting - since they don't allow you to sit in and WATCH them teach I quickly realized that there were many inadequacies that had needed to be addressed. The lack of empathy for personal family concerns was profound! The teacher blatantly stated that when her students don't listen to her that she calls on another teacher to discipline them - unbelievable! When given the opportunity, we are looking into disenrolling. Sadly that seems to want to be their goal - to not have to worry about taking the proper steps in resolving issues and to form a bogus paper trail to ultimately have the child out of school. With all that's going on in this world, Covid possible inflation, lay-offs, unemployment It's unfortunate that we can't even be confident in our educators. Below, I took it upon myself to Google a few things regarding properly educating a 5 year old, this is clearly NOT what is happening at this school. "What is normal behavior for a 5 year old? At 5-6 years, expect tricky emotions, independence, friendships and social play, plenty of talk, improved physical coordination, and more." "What is the best teaching method for kindergarten? Some of the methods of teaching kindergarten kids are: Play with your students. Make use of toys and tools to introduce basic math. "TEACH THE KIDS EXCITEDLY" about physical and life science. Encourage early reading and listening skills. Set clear and consistent behavior expectations. Help students develop social skills." "What is the most effective teaching method for kindergarten? This is why differentiation is so useful in a kindergarten classroom and why it stands out as one of the most effective teaching strategies. Here, you can assign different activities based on the needs of each student.""
"Went here for 5 years, not the best school in the world but its getting there, some teachers have favoritism towards students, and some members of the staff are rude, but besides that its a good learning area. Disgusting lunches and its the not that sanitary but definitely. A normal growing school."
"I LOVE DuBois! I grew up in Clayton County but I moved as an adult and now I'm back with a family. We've been at DIA for two years now and I wish DIA was here when I was growing up! Mr. Cason's vision for the community and children is truly inspiring and I am so glad my family and I get to be a part of it! My daughter has made so many positive relationships with her classmates and staff. They show her so much love and it truly makes us feel like we're a part of a giant family! DIA has had our backs through situations and has been very uplifting and encouraging. For academics, my daughter's teachers Ms. Spencer (2nd grade) & Ms. K Jackson (3rd grade) set high standards for her yet still keep her engaged which I love because during the pandemic, my daughter lost a little zeal for learning and she wasn't taking school seriously and now she enjoys being back at school. Her teachers hold her accountable and push her to achieve greater. Thank you DIA for all that you do! Continue to impact all those who hear the name!"
"Overall I have had a positive experience with D.I.A. I think there’s always room for improvement with anything and they are constantly working on improving. Any issue that I have had has been addressed with the proper administration in a professional and timely manner. I think if the hours of operation changed to allow morning drop offs to begin at 7am instead of 7:30am it would make a huge difference with the morning traffic pileup. They are very committed to the health and safety of those who attend and work at the school which I really appreciate. Their mission and goals align with my own personal beliefs which is why I chose this school for my children to attend and so far I like what I see."
"It has been a great pleasure to watch this school grow. My kids love the environment and the learning methods. I would recommend this school to anyone with elementary aged kids it is a great school with a great staff and i know it's going to get even better. They are continuously expanding and doing great things and offer so many great programs for the kids. Dubois staff are very involved with the children and the parents i haven't experienced this love anywhere else. Great Job Dubois staff!"
