Families already have to make the difficult decision to place their loved ones in another person’s care and to see them mistreat them is beyond grotesque."

"I have never seen such disregard for common decency in a medical institution. The patients are largely ignored, as are the requests of family members. When dealing with family members, the demeanor of the staff ranges from indifferent to hostile, with most being extremely rude. I've witnessed patients press their call buzzers only to have the nurses turn them off and ignore the patients. My grandmother's doctor was supposed to have come a week ago to examine her and determine whether or not she needed to remain on oxygen. He has not seen her. I expressed concern about this and the fact that my grandmother, who is a diabetic with dementia, was being given too many sweets. I was angrily informed that "she has the right to have whatever she wants, and it's her business if she wants sweets." Thankfully, she will be released in a few days, if the neglect does not cause her further harm."
