"I could not be happier about Northside Forsyth, they are very sanitary and dispite 2 spinal fusions and many smaller treatments I have not had an issue picking up mrsa or any other nasty bugs. The Gainsville hospital looked old and dirty to me and having 3 friends who all got mrsa after some minor and major surgeries at Gainsville, I chose to drive the hour trip to Forsyth Northside Hospital and have no complaints. I had gone to Emory to see an orthopedist who had trouble understanding English and constantly wrote things down wrong and then when seeing the neurologist he was insulting from the get go refusing to hear or read any of the 5 or 6 radiology reports insisting he knew radiology better than them and I was a hypochondriac making up that I was unable to sit up due to unbearable pain. They gave me spinal injections which helped at first but things were getting worse and worse. They insisted it was just 2 minor herniated disks. Fortunately after dealing for 1.5 years with unending agony a wonderful rehab specialist, Dr. Kelly at Benchmark Rehab, got me in touch with a neurologist, Dr. MacDonald. Not only did he listen to me and take exquisite notes but he was willing to line up a laminectomy and discectomy within days to try and find what was wrong. He found 2/3 of my L5 disc was shattered beyond repair and the bone shards had dug into the discs preventing them from healing so he imediatly set up an emergency fusion from the L3 to the sacrum with a metal piece wedged where the shatter disc once was. I owe Dr. MacDonald everything because at the level of pain and depression I had fallen into I don't think I would have been able to keep going for much longer. They also have a great radiology team who were willing to go through alot of hoops for me since I can't stand or sit for more than a couple minutes at best. I can't say anything about the rest of the hospital, but if you need a truly great neurosurgeon and staff or a great radiology group who treat you like family rather than a paycheck this is the perfect place for you. I really can't say enough good things about Northside Forsyth Hospital."
