"There Brunswick stew is amazing best we've ever had. Mr. Cook and his wife were very friendly people had a wonderful chat with them. We will definitely be returning!!"
"The picking these days may be slim, but the cuts are wonderful and the hospitality overwhelming.. Thank you for all you do."
"I don’t usually bash small businesses. I am a small business and I know how hard it is to make everyone happy, sometimes you just can’t. However…. Somethings you just have to make public. Today I went to B Cook’s grocery and meat looking for a very specific cut of meat. The man at the counter (I’m assuming Mr. Cook) could not acquire the meat that I am in search of. No, big deal. Neither can anywhere else I have been. That is not why I am writing this “review”, if you can even call it that, since no services were provided. Now for the meat of story, so to speak, As I was talking to the man at the counter he ask me “do you have something in your mouth.” I was a little caught off guard but quickly realized he was referring to my lip piercing. I replied with “oh, yeah. That’s just a piercing.” He then said “why a earth would you want something like that.” To which I replied “I’ve had it for 10 plus years. It’s just a part of me now.” Thinking that’s the end of the conversation I turned my attention back to meat, or at least attempted to. When this man closes the computer in front of him. And says to me “I can’t help you! And I can’t stand to look at you!!!” stunned and shocked at this mans disregard for common human decency I walk out. I sat in my Jeep for a few minutes before calling my husband to go over the exchange with him. Honestly, I know folks from the generations before my own don’t get why we do what we do. I understand fully that prior to the last few decades it was not commonplace to altar your appearance in such a way. But I have never felt so much resentment directed my way based on my personal appearance. And it is ABSOLUTELY unacceptable to speak to a customer in that way. If you are reading this and you are that man. Please know, I mean no disrespect but do better. Be a better person. Be a better man. And please try harder to show kindness to those you don’t understand. We are all people. And we all deserve to be treated with compassion. The heart of a person does not lay in what you see on outside. Words hurt. And while I have strong constitution the next person you speak to like you did me may not. It cost you nothing to be considerate. You would do well to learn that, sir."
"I can't say enough good things about this place. It's owned & operated by the sweetest couple that have been married for over 50 years. They make their own spices, chicken salad & sausage (probably other stuff too) that really good. We like thick cut steaks and he cuts them perfectly."
"If you are looking for that hometown meat market feel then look no further. This is the place to go. American owned by the sweetest couple and your meats are chosen and cut in front of you. Prices are great."
