"This used to be my kids and I favorite store. I love thrifting—both giving and purchasing. Growing up, my mom, sisters and I used to patronize a mom and child 2nd hand store similar to this but located on the west coast and it was my favorite as a child. I was so thrilled to find one similar on the east coast and I’m a firm believer in not being wasteful, plus I’ve been blessed with a good eye for fashion, so it’s a win-win shopping at places like this. Unfortunately, the morale is completely different than it was a few years ago and when selling to them, good items are rejected or they only offer a few dollars in exchange for them—yet the items they offer on the shelves/racks are only subpar now. It’s strange. And the cashiers always seem tired, irritated, or like they’re forcing themselves to smile behind their frowns. It’s sad. I wish owners took better care of their employees so that they would be better workers, and I wish workers worked in places where they truly enjoyed it, especially places like this where the target customers are children and their parents. It would be unfortunate for a long standing relationship as a consumer and a contributor to come to an end. It saddens me that we’re in such times where people are so disconnected and dismissive towards one another, but if we collectively choose to be kind, patient, and loving, despite our differences/circumstances, we can overcome these trying times together. Until then, I need all business owners and workers to know that where you are there billions of others just like you, so be appreciative and respectful of the people who take the time to walk into your doors and keep your businesses alive, and your jobs available—because you can here today and gone/replaced tomorrow."
"I just leave the store because the ladies on front refused to let my three years old doughier used the bathroom, Nov 5 at 4:46 pm Sunday, I had a cart almost full of stuff .,They suggest me to go to another store to take care of my daughter ,and go back to pay for my stuff , wish it's make any sense , when I ask why they to that or if they think that that is correct or fear all of them ignored me. I'm a very constan costumer of that store."
"We are visiting from out of town and decided we needed a high chair. Luckily once upon a child had one. The store is clean and well organized. We ended up getting some clothes too. The used clothes were priced fairly ... maybe dollar more than the prices we are used to seeing in thrift stores in Norfolk, VA. If we lived here, I'd shop here for clothes all the time."
"I used to love coming here. They suggest things be nicely put in order, clean, lay flat, and in bins. I've done exactly that each time. They never return the items neatly. It's always a mess. You ask me to do one thing but can't do the same in return? Furthermore. I've sold here and other places like it many times. Hundreds of items. This most recent visit, I was offered $100 for 87 pieces of cleaned, pressed, and sorted items. Some pieces were brand names. They took every jacket I brought in as well. How does that math add up for the offer? I asked for a breakdown of what the pieces were they were offering to buy from me (which I've been given before), and they refused. Other times, if things don't seem right, they will give the breakdown of what their system says the item is worth and then what they are offering. This is helpful. When it was refused, we refused to sell and won't be back. Very disappointing. I also stood there and listened to the employees' flat-out lie to a customer. She came in to sell at 650, and was told they aren't taking anymore. She replied she thought they stopped at 7. They told her yes, but some days they just decide to stop early when they have too much stuff (my order was the only one there, and we were done). It appears the people working there are not interested in the buying process for the stores success, and that's frustrating."
