J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital Emergency Room

"The ER experience I had wasn't very good. It is usually a very good Er. I'm not sure if they had a bad night or what. But the doctors acted like I was crazy. I have hydrocephalus lupus, seizures, and more. I am losing the use of my legs, my thought process, I have a pacemaker, I feel fluid gush around my shunt area, an extremely bad headaches, and more. The doctors I saw that night acted like I was crazy. Pretty well told me I need a therapist and therapy. I told them I am taking therapy to try to keep up my strength. My parents are my medical power of attorney, so they backed me up. They have been the ones picking me up off the floor, pushing me in the wheelchair. I am not lazy. That's what I was pretty much told. I didn't see my neurosurgeon or neurologist (its like they ignored the fact that I had one there). So my elderly parents drove 4 hours for what? Nothing! I am still in the same boat."

"My sister was not seen here. She waited for 8 hours in emergency room and never got to be seen by a doctor. When she decided to give up because was too sick to wait anymore. Her vitals were 120 beats a minute heart rate. The nurse redid the vitals and it looked like she had a control at the computer to make the heartbeat better. My sister was in serious condition. They have a window where they can see out but can't see in. Do not like this place and will not be back again. They ignore you and don't care if you die in the emergency room."

"Horrible. My daughter went to the Eye Institute to see a doctor. He was concerned about some things and sent her to the ER to get blood work and an MRI. She was already seen by a specialist, keep in mind. 5 hrs later they called her name. Just to go back so the ER doctor could examine her eyes. She was already seen by a specialist and he wants the MRI. You do not have the eye care equipment needed to do what he does. She doesn't have eye trauma nor is she bleeding or in pain. Just do what the chart says. Just do an MRI. An exam is not needed. IDIOTS. It's like you work at a fast food place and get the order all wrong."

"Will not go again! Had a leak in a carheter and after several hours, nothing happened. Wanted to put a line in for IV, why I just have a leak, kept checking BP as if I'm dying, still leak not fixed, finally after 3.5 hours I left. Next day went to Mon General, they were on it immediately, fixing the problem. No waiting for hours. I'll continue to go there"

"I strongly urge people not to go to the Emergency Room on a Saturday, because you will encounter the most rude and obnoxious nurse on the planet (NANA is her name). She tried everything possible to get me to walk out without being treated. She clearly had no bedside manner skills whatsoever. She even told her co-workers she wasn't going to be my nurse and tried to refuse me treatment. She told me "if I didn't like it I could leave! She should be reprimanded and re- trained at the very least. All the Doctors were very courteous though. They noticed how I was being treated by the obnoxious nurse."
