Blacks Bluff Preserve
About the Business
Blacks Bluff Preserve is a stunning park located in Rome, Georgia, United States. Situated on a steep mountainous outcrop of 500-million-year-old Conasauga limestone, this 263-acre preserve is home to a wide variety of rare and unusual plants. The area boasts exceptional botanical diversity, with plants thriving in the rocky terrain and lime-rich soil.
Originally documented by botanists in the 19th century, Black's Bluff Preserve is now managed by The Nature Conservancy in partnership with local, state, and private groups. Volunteers help maintain the two trails that wind through the preserve, offering visitors the chance to explore this unique natural environment.
Visitors can access the preserve during daylight hours without a reservation. The Spring Trail provides a moderately difficult hike to the spring pools, offering a loop trail option for those looking for a longer adventure. Please be cautious of fast traffic when accessing the trailhead, as the area is not ADA accessible.
For those interested in getting involved with hands-on volunteer opportunities at Black's Bluff Preserve, work party dates are available. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, hiker, or conservationist, this park offers a beautiful and educational experience for all who visit.

Reviews
"It was a nice place to hike. Just wish there were trails to go on, It's a pretty heavly wooded area"
"Peaceful place! Short trail so kids can hike easily. There is a small creek with baby snails and some crawfish there."
"PERFECT hike for the kiddos! Love that it’s a short hike to the creek area. My boys had such a fun time playing in the water. There’s a nice log to walk across that isn’t too high off the ground and they loved that. We had a lovely time and will definitely be back."
"Beautiful hike through the woods. Most of the trail is easy to follow, it gets quite steep for a bit. The trail is not marked very well. Maybe I should have just turned around and came back exactly how I went in but I found my way back. The spring pool is really nice."
"Pretty. Not much of a hike. Found the cave by chance, and it is interesting. It’s across the stream and up the hill. The picture I posted has a tree marked above it."
