"I caution any one who is considering using Towne Lake Family Pharmacy. They will tell you a medication is not covered under your insurance even if it is. We had a special medeication prescribed to out daughter. The pharmacist told us that it was not covered under our insurance- which seemed odd to me. We paid the cash pay price for it. I ultimately found out that it was in fact covered under our insurance- through my own digging as well confirmed with another local pharmacy. When confronted about the discrepency, the pharmacist told me that they charged me the cash pay price beucase if they ordered it and filed it under our insurance they would "lose money." To treat a patient (family) this way is unethical and when my insurance covers it and they charge a rate higher than what my insurance contracted rate it, it is illegal. If you are going to lose money on it, don't order it. Tell families you can't get the medication and leave it at that. *Editing to add my own repsonse to the pharmacy's response: They clearly missed the point- if they lose money on the medication, that's fine. Just tell me you either can't get it or be honest regarding the cost, but don't tell me that my insurance doesn't cover it. That is the problem here. My insurance did in fact cover the medication but to be told it wasn't covered at all and charge me the cash pay price is deceptive. So no, it is not a review of frustration toward my insurance company and my coverage (because again, the medication was covered) but a review of frustration on the pharmacy for providing inaccurate information."
