"The Southside Center for the Arts, is located in Opelika's historic neighborhood, is a cherished realization of a longstanding dream. Once a school designed by Southern architectural legend Frank Lockwood in 1929, Southside Elementary's transformation into a vibrant hub for the arts is a testament to thoughtful restoration and contemporary vision. This historic gem now pulsates with life, hosting a variety of artistic expressions, educational activities, and community engagement events. The central 300-seat auditorium, adorned with lively natural acoustics, stands as a testament to the building's rich history."
"This location is used for a lot of different activities, East Alabama Arts Association,Alsobrook Performing Arts Company, OGrows, to make a few."
"OTC/OCT is a wonderful program with amazing directors that dedicate their time to our children. Our children have loved this place and presented beautiful musicals and plays but whoever is in charge of the building should be ashamed. The girls dressing room is so hot it is unbearable for over a year now. That ramp has to be dangerous for those in a wheel chair and by no means is it accessible to anyone with special needs. I hope that OTC/OCT will be able to continue the wonderful work they do for the community but it seems as though the powers that be may not care that so much is being given to our children by these special people."
"Loved the play, and the architecture of the older building, however it needs some updates for sure. Also, it was quite awkward that the female cast was changing in the restroom. I had to ask if one of them wouldn't mind moving their belongings out of one of the sinks so that I could wash my hands. Otherwise, the performance of Fantastic Mr. Fox, was super cute!"
"Quaint little auditorium near downtown Opelika! Tucked away in a quiet spot away from traffic, etc. Perfect venue for a small scale production!"
