"Great place for a homeschool field trip! The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. My son loved the children's area and tools exhibit. We learned alot!"
"They’re not open when the recording, website AND (when called day ahead) docent said they will be! I drove all the way for nothing. Same story today - still not open and internet and phone recoding say they are."
"I would've given this field trip a 5 star review had the staff not been so incredibly rude to our schools staff. Our school is located in East cobb, a 50 minute drive to the museum. Due to unforeseen circumstances at the school our field trip was delayed about an hour. I get it, being late is no good. But when you have a group of 30 kids between the ages of 6 and 12 things sometimes don't go as planned. Immediately after arriving we were told we were late, which we knew. We apologized and let the staff know that we were going to use the restroom then we'd be ready. They told us that we needed to just go on the tour and skip the bathroom because of how tardy we were. After 50 minutes on a bus the kids had to go, so I reiterated that we would be ready after the children had used the restroom. I was then told that their Staff were extremely upset with our group because they had been down at the village waiting on us. I apologized again and got the kids ready for their tour. We walked down to their replica cabin and woodworking station. Our children were rushed through the cabin and the woodworking station, the actors even said that they were being rushed. Our children didn't get the experience we had driven so far to see. Once inside we were informed that our tour guide had to leave soon , so we were rushed through all the exhibits on the inside and didn't even get to see the tools/weapons room. After we were rushed through the exhibits we were sat down in a theater to watch a short documentary. When everyone was sitting down one of our six year Olds skipped the line. Before a member of our staff could address her, a member of the museum staff began berating her. The child told the staff member that she was only six years old and the staff member retorted. " then you should know how to listen and follow the rules." Though I agree with the statement, I don't agree with berating a child in front of other children. Also I think if you don't know a child and they aren't in your care then it is not your place to get on to that child or discipline them. Our children even got a best museum manners award. I feel our children were punished for something that no one had control over. As a museum for education I would expect a little understanding about how unpredictable things can be when it comes to children and fieldtrips. I apologize again for our tardiness, but really hope after reading this review that you grant paying customers a little grace in the future."
"My students and I had a wonderful time at the Funk on a History Alive field trip. The museum is lovely, and we LOVED going outside to hear Paul Revere and experience an authentic blacksmith, an 1800s cabin and a few lovely period musical instruments."
"Exhibits are nice and the acting was fun but the insanity of having too many schools attend can be very distracting. It’s also fairly expensive and kind of a far drive. We got all the sites visited before lunch time. The actors were well dressed and provided a lot of information but the kids all informed me after it was boring."
