Reviews
"The facility is beautiful, but unfortunately the customer service AND progress is lackluster. We joined Intown in 2020 and there has been little to no contact with coaches, and no updates on the portal to show mastery. My child has taken gymnastics and tumbling, and I do not see the value in continuing the recreational classes. The location is prime, but unfortunately the services rendered or lack thereof do not supersede convenience."
"Who would have thought the level of drama in the gymnastics world! As of today my daughter and her team is no longer affiliated with Intown Stars Gymnastics. The past 10 days has been hell and traumatizing to say the least! The owner fired our head coach 3 weeks before our first competition and left us with no transition plan. And told us she was HAPPY to help us with a smooth transition if we were to follow our coach. Which was a lie! If anything she was trying to force us out. She kept insisting on transitioning us out instead of coming up with a plan if we were to stay. She refused to meet with us (all the team parents) in person and only wanted to communicate through email. She waited last minute knowing that it would be near impossible to find another gym that would accept 30 gymnasts at such a short notice TWO weeks before the competition season. We were left with one coach which is DANGEROUS with the high level of skills that our daughters perform. And she refused to explain to us what the future would look like going forward. Our head coach was fired close to 3 months after our team director had to or forced to resign (take it how you want to take it, IMO she had no choice). Not only that, she only gave us til the 15th to give her a decision on whether we are staying or going…how? When you refuse to meet and give us a direction of the program. Holding us hostage to team fee balances that haven’t been fulfilled on her end with threats of dropping our daughters out of registrations for meets that no longer have spots and waitlists. Our team is full of talented young ladies who worked HARD as hell to get to where they are and who also brought Intowns reputation in the gymnastics world as recognizable since our teams are full of STATE, REGIONAL and NATIONAL recognized athletes over the last couple years, my daughter included. We have girls looking to get recruited into college and using this season to help! Whatever her beef is with the coaches and/or parents have nothing to do with our daughters! To threaten to jeopardize their season is HEARTLESS. There are many more things that have transpired that I do not wish to go into detail on a public forum but rest assured, ALL 30 of us (families and parents) have left and starting anew at a new gym. Thank God we found a place willing to take our girls AND our coaches, and keep us together. Esp since our first meet is THIS FRIDAY. That says A LOT that a whole team program (USAG Levels 4-9) LEFT and followed the coaches. We have been with this gym since my daughter was 5 and she is 12 now. I am disappointed and disgusted at how things took a turn. Especially with the THOUSANDS of dollars I have spent on this business over the years! So NO I will not suggest Intown Stars Gymnastics to anyone. And I have receipts and proof to back up all my claims on this review! And the treatment of minority, POC and Black employees do not go unnoticed. The parents see it. I cannot speak on the recreation program, but this is how the Team program was ran."
"The owner of this gym cares more about the money she makes than the competitive athletes at her gym. She fired/ forced to resign multiple coaches so that the competitive teams did not have sufficient coaching to be safe. She fired the lead coach 2.5 weeks before the first meet this season. She alleged he was incompetent, but the teams he has coached at this gym have had multiple athletes go to State and Regionals for multiple years. When parents asked for a plan for how she would provide coaches moving forward, she essentially told us that we could deal with it or leave. In response, the entire women's gymnastics program from level 4-9 has left Intown Stars. These are State champions, regional champions, regional team members, Top 100 in the country athletes, so this is a BIG DEAL! Each family has their own reasons, but our family’s' reasons also include increasing tuition by 60% to cover the price of her new rent, a pattern of firing black employees, and abuse of employees including berating employees in the middle of the gym floor in front of their athletes. We've been with ISG for 7 years. We’ve stayed through change of gym owner, COVID, etc. But it has become clear that the owner puts profits over people. And that is not a place I am comfortable leaving my child."
"My daughter has been a competitive gymnast at ISG since its Decatur inception. I, along with all of the team parents, have spent thousands and thousands of dollars to have our daughters (28 of them) train with some of the best coaches in GA. Unfortunately, the owner decided to fire the head coach of the competitive teams 2 weeks before the first meet of the season, but hours after our January dues posted to our credit cards. Our athletes are devastated! To switch to a new coach is difficult at any time, but 2 weeks before the first meet is just dangerous and cruel. Reasons for his termination were described as "made after careful consideration and thorough evaluation" yet this left the team with an inadequate number of coaches and no immediate plan to remedy the unsafe coaching numbers. Sounds rash to me. Insult to injury, with the lack of a thoughtful transition plan or adequate number of coaches, the girls could have been disqualified from the meets and many of us parents could have been saddled with non refundable travel/hotel fees for our away meets. Lastly, we were informed that the owner was restructuring the competitive team during the email informing us of said coach's termination - (which by the way the owner had a police officer escort him out of the building - a man that was trusted with our girls-really? Not the first time she's had a terminated coach escorted out. Thankfully, this time, she chose the escort before practice instead of during like the last coach). Appears this decision was months in the making, yet we were unaware. This goes against the "open book" and "transparent" management style boasted by the owner. Also, a "heart-centered approach built on trust" seems ridiculous as these competitive gymnasts have practiced upwards of 18 hours a week and their season could have been ruined. We found another the gym."
"This facility is so beautiful! Who knew that a HUGE gymnastics/parkour/tumbling/aerial silks/ninja warrior/dance/art/after school programming/summer camp/school break camp/Saturday Parents Night Out facility was sitting right here on Dekalb Industrial Way! I can't believe how much programming they offer! Amazing!"
