"Down home cooking the way it's supposed to be. I had a Giant burger combo that comes with fries and Cole slaw. Speaking of Cole slaw it's almost as good as my grandmother's so it's killer. The wife had a hot ham and cheese combo it was fantastic also. I just wished I had room for dessert. They had pies. Oh well will try and update."
"First time visiting here. Got the Sunday special chicken and dumplings. Came with stuffing as well. Tasted all so good. Get Mamaw to make you some hot chocolate! Buttered peas and corn were good too."
"Baked steak was tender and tasty . This is a family owned , home cooking whole in the wall place to eat. Establishment is clean. Visited a year later, I had the Pork chop special, with mustard greens and Mashed potatoes. At no Fault to the new owner you can not serve and advertise home cooking and put instant mashed potatoes on a plate. That was disappointment! The cat fish is frozen and thrown in a deep fryer again not home cooking! If you plan on keeping the tradition , then get the traditions of home cooking back. This restaurant is not living up to the reputation of your Grandparents and of the past. I wish you the best of luck!"
"This come with sadness to give this restaurant this rating. We have been looking for a diner type place to eat since we moved to Olive Hill. We found this restaurant and couldn't wait to try it out. What a disappointment. We went on a Friday afternoon around 3pm for dinner. There was about 5 tables with patrons inside and 4 servers working. We sat down and ordered our drinks. I ordered sweet tea... it was so sweet it was barely drinkable. Tasted like sugar water and I grew up on southern style sweet tea. This was just nasty. Our appetizer came out and was nothing to btag about. Dry fries with cheese melted on top and bacon crumpled over the cheese. The ranch dressing was so watery it had no taste at all. It was just cold and wet that helped the dry fries go down a little easier. Then came out dinner. Hubby had the fish special; A filet, onion rings, side salad and corn bread. He said his food was 'okay', but rated it only a 2 out of 10. I ordered the roast beef with "homemade" gravy, mashed potatoes, a side salad, and a roll. I don't even know where to start. I will say the roast beef was very tender, but the flavor was ruined by the so called "homemade" gravy. And the mashed potatos aren't even worth ordering since they are instant potatos. We were half way thru what we could eat of the meal when I flagged down our server to ask for our salads. She apologized for forgetting, but after she brought them we didn't eat them either. The salad was from a bag and you could taste it wasn't fresh. What a shame. We were really hoping this would be our Friday night 'date' night restaurant. But.. instead it has become our one and done."
