"Very unique and pretty cool place. Easy access to river. Nice pathway and parking. Great place to take a hike and fish Lots of information about the wildlife in the area."
"This place is amazing. They take very good care of their property and the wild life that surrounds it. The hiking trails are kept clean and well maintained. My dog loves being here. I recommend everyone to visit at least twice."
"This is the only visitor center for the Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge includes 22 islands and 4 mainland areas along 362 miles of the Ohio River from Pennsylvania to Kentucky. All but four islands are located in West Virginia. All islands are accessible by boat. Only two islands are accessible by bridge. The bridge to Middle Island (near St. Mary's, WV) can be traveled by vehicle or walking. A small area on Wheeling Island can be reached by a foot bridge from Belle Isle Park. Directly across a channel from the visitor center is Buckley Island. All the Buckley Mainland trails are within walking distance of the visitor center. These trails are pretty well marked."
"Wonderful river island visitor center. Several live aquatic displays and very detailed fresh river water mussels display and aquarium. Wildlife area and pleasant hiking trails in area near the Ohio River. It's a worthwhile stop when visiting the area."
"One of my favorite places to spend an afternoon. There are a few mowed trails by the river, a paved pollinator habitat to walk through, and upland trails on the hill across the road from the refuge. The refuge also hosts many clubs and events throughout the year that are excellent opportunities for families and individuals looking to learn more about the natural world and meet like minded folks. There are moth nights, pollinator counts, and bird walks just to name a few of the activities."
