"I was looking for a dress for a friend’s informal city hall wedding. I looked around and saw nothing that seemed right for the event. The sales woman pointed out a mid length, full, flowery dress, and said it would be perfect. I tried it on, it said size 8, but it was. UK size, so it was really a size 4. I thought it was way too snug on top, and it just wasn’t my style at all…but somehow I was convinced to buy it. It was on sale for $78, which is a lot for a dress I might not ever wear again. The next week, we we’re getting ready for the Minneapolis City Hall wedding. I put the dress on, walked down to the lobby to meet the other attendees and immediately felt uncomfortable. Everyone was dressed in very simple, mostly black dresses or slacks. I ran upstairs and changed into another dress that I’d brought, just in case. Back in Beautiful, I called the owner of the shop and explained what happened. I nicely asked if I could exchange the dress for something I’d actually wear, and she adamantly said that that was against policy. I have been trying to sell this dress ever since, (2 years) with no luck. I guess that’s why she wouldn’t accept a return. I really wanted to love this shop because a lot of the things are either organic or environmentally friendly. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning."
