"Joshua Hooper is a scammer. He was paid to install a new AC for my house and he installed an old thing that never worked and wasn’t even connected. He also stopped answering texts and calls and just disappeared. Beware of this horrible person. I also found people saying he was a convicted felon and a sec offender. I found him through Angie’s so I thought he could be trusted. Worst mistake of my life. Do not use Angie’s!!!"

"You must read...DO NOT HIRE HIM....Criminal record a mile long! Joshua answered a request through Home Advisor/Angies List. He showed up two days late for the appt time set my Angie, and never answered calls or texts. He had a lame (very) excuse but said he was on his way. Angie expects them to do the work when booked. He came but gave me an estimate. Angie charged me and I called to tell them he didn't do work, they refunded me the charges as I told them it was a lot more than expected. That he was coming back. He was supposed to send me a quote after spending 1.5 hrs at my house reviewing all that needed to be done. He told me he'd be there to start on a Monday...heard nothing. Never answered calls or texts. Then Tues afternoon he called and said he was almost there (from Greenville SC to Brevard NC) Said his Christmas Tree caught on fire. I had my doubts but because I there were no available electricians to do this work for me (after searching and calling for a month) I was desperate and since Angies List "vets" their professionals and does the back ground...I went with him. I don't know how they do it or who they use but they should get a new provider. I am out of town from where this house we own is located and where work was to be done. It is being renovated so empty. He asked if he could stay there because it was a 4 day job, which it probably was, He said he would buy the materials and I could just reimburse him and he'd charge me a fee which I agreed to but would pay till finished. Long story (there's more of him ignoring texts and calls) Finally he calls and sends me a quote from Lowes for supplies.. At first I thought it was a receipt. But I had refused to give him a $1600 deposit but knew I had to get the supplies so I paid through Venmo. And that was that. $1800. A felony. He disappeared. We reported to the police...not much there. We have a friend who is a PI and he found his record...45 offenses! including sexual assault, evading a chasing police car, larceny, multiple traffic, drugs, meth distribution and manufacturing, resisting arrest, abuse to animals, domestic abuse and violence, weapons sale , criminal conspiracy, and so much more... DO not use, if you make this mistake, then DO NOT Venmo...no way to refund."

"DO NOT USE!!! Shoddy work. Tried to stain my deck in the dark. When I told him there were several places that were missed, he said he would come over and fix them. He never showed and won't answer any calls or texts. A man is only as good as his word. In this case his word, like his work, is worthless"

"one of the worst experiance i have ever had. would not show up as promise, one lie after another for not showing up on time. then the craf man ship ,they were suppose to install two door, they cut my brand new door because they did not know how too install the hardware correct, the other door they tried too glue the frame into opening because they did not know how too build it correct. Want too waste your hard earn money, give them a call"
