"I hate that my grandson attends Chatham County Public School. Looking elsewhere asap. 50%of the teachers are just working for a paycheck only and don’t care about the children at all. It’s sad!!!"
"Now that my kids have been out of this system for almost a year, I have positive experiences for comparison that underscore the level of incompetence and malice one can expect from this school system. Absolutely everything was a challenge with this school system: Registered my oldest 2 in June but the county did not process the registration until 2 days after school started and counted them absent during that time while doing nothing to get them access to their online classes as nothing was in-person then. Had trouble with teachers bullying my kids at both Groves High School and Rice Creek. Groves Principal didn't lift a finger until I notified the superintendent that I would involve the media unless I had a hearing on the matter. I still regret not going to the media anyway. At least had some positive traction from principal at Rice Creek, but the offending teacher never faced any repercussions other than being forced to call me for a half-hearted apology during which she spent most of the conversation trying to justify her behavior that quite clearly violated teacher code of conduct. Lastly, after moving to another part of the state solely to place my children in a different school system closer to family, SCCPSS did not process the withdrawal on my oldest, calling me in SEPTEMBER to see why he was not attending school and accusing me of truancy when I literally had the new school system fax her (social worker) his enrollment documentation showing that he had been withdrawn from them and enrolled over the summer at the new school system. Getting cussed at and hung up when asking for assistance with the board office to resolve said issue with the social worker was just icing on the cake. In summary, as a lifelong resident of GA who grew up in a poorer school system, I have never witnessed the level of incompetence, indifference, and lack of decency exhibited by SCCPSS. Rather than address these problems, this school system seeks to suppress any form of criticism - as evidenced by how they have made their facebook page so that people like me cannot participate (which is illegal as they are a local government entity)."
"My granddaughter attends White bluff elementary and is a first grade and has failed everything her first 9 weeks her mother requested for her daughter to be put back in kindergarten. Social promotion is what they're doing to our children and it needs to stop so what's your numbers are down so what these children are not passing you need to fix the reason these children are passing. It's sick to work with these children around Savannah that's grown and can't spell correctly because of what's going on in today's schools, my granddaughter will not be a number or a statistic"
"This school district is horrible you can’t get anyone on the phone or talk to you that get paid the big bucks to talk to. My child was attacked at school and she was suspended for it. I ask for investigation and still haven’t heard from anyone. I thought Georgia had zero tolerance for bullying- I guess it only pertains to the employees of the school system kids. This is the reason why our children do not feel safe to go to school. You want my child to go back into a classroom where she was attacked and that student will be in there again— and to top of off there wasn’t a “Teacher” in the class because the teacher was “off”. So who is supervising our children???? Poor Poor School System Groves— still no response from Ms. Lovett or whatever her name is—guess since our children are numbers not people so it doesn’t matter. SMH -"
"I would give this public school system a zero, but it is not an option. They are understaffed due to COVID, as all excuses r nowadays for poor performance, but they do not supply newcomers with the resources needed to start successfully. All registration is done downtown at the student academic affairs office and they are a sorry excuse for a business. Waste of time, unmanaged, do not return phone calls. Your child's education is of least concern to them. We have been trying to enroll for almost 30 days, which we are now successful, but not one person has requested a transcript for my children. I have not had communication from these schools as no one is in office or working due to COVID. Home school your kids or be very proactive in your children's education. I will never recommend this county/district to anyone. I would tell them to seek education elsewhere. Very disappointed in this school system administration thus far and the school year hasn't even started."
