"I was fortunate enough to stay at The Charleston Place during my first visit to SC and it was an amazing experience! I can't say I've ever stayed in a nicer hotel. The lobby is absolutely gorgeous and the rooms are amazing too. I ate at Meeting at Market my first night and got some drinks at the Thoroughbred Club the second. Both places were really enjoyable, with great food and a good atmosphere. I especially loved the live piano music in the Thoroughbred Club. Also highly recommend the room service breakfast. The Charleston Place is located near so many amazing restaurants for lunch & dinner needs. I hope I can go back to this hotel some time in the future!"
"Very nice 5-star hotel in the center of everything. If you want a consistent high end experience that you don’t mind feeling a bit generic you will be fine. There are so many great boutique hotels in a Charleston, however, you should do a little research as you can do better if you want a hotel with a unique feel. On this trip we had an issue with our room - our suite was not available as booked and they put us in a smaller suite instead for the first of the two nights we stayed there. They apologized profusely but I had to request to be credited the difference in rate between the two rooms - which they did agree to do - but I wish they had done it without me having to ask. When this has happened to me before I’m usually just put in a bigger room or suite - because it was New Year’s I am giving them the benefit of the doubt they were probably all booked. Normally I wouldn’t care about small issues like this but my son had a cough that kept us all up all night and we had been counting on the separate room to preserve our sanity! The valet was also painfully delayed in retrieving our car the first time we requested it but again, perhaps they were unusually slammed with New Years traffic. There was also a conference going on which can make hotels very congested. Bottom line - it’s a bigger hotel that probably does a good job keeping its occupancy up but you feel it with the bustle."
"This is a very very nice hotel in downtown Charleston. The staff was wonderful and the hotel is superb. The was my first visit to the Hotel and would definitely recommend. The only negative is the high prices for parking and hotel food/beverages. Prices seemed a little higher than comparable hotels. The accommodations were fantastic and the hotel itself is beautifully decorated and very well maintained. The hotel employs a lot of staff and they were very pleasant and accommodating. Already planning another trip to Charleston Place."
"I have been to The Charleston Place a few times in the last few months and feel I can give an honest review now. While the rooms are nice, the bed is comfortable and the bathrooms are clean - they are dated with chipped paint and the normal wear and tear. The few negative experiences I had were minor but I will note them for honesty. There was one stay where the toilet seat was broken and another time the hair dryer was faulty (made a rattling noise and smelled like something was burning). Also, the fridge does not have a freezer. Some hotels will provide you a QR code to notify the valet to fetch your car so it is ready for you when you get to the lobby. However at this hotel you go down and tell them your number and then you wait for them to fetch it. Not a huge deal, just not very technically savvy. The big downside for me at this hotel is the gym is not 24/7. The only way to access to the gym is through the pool area so is only available from 6 am - 8 pm. While they do put money into the very scent of the lobby the money could be spent elsewhere in my opinion. I did hear from a staff member that in the next couple years they will be doing a remodel. So hopefully they can provide a better experience in the future."
"Oh my, how does one describe this fabulous hotel? We had such an amazing experience there in August. Upon check-in, we were given a glass of sparkling wine while a piano player serenaded us and our bellman waited for us. The room was gorgeous with many upgrades and of course very comfortable. The hotel is beyond description; it is really that gorgeous and has doormen and is also attached to stupendous stores and Kings Road (more incredible shopping). It is also across the street from "The Market" which is a can't-miss, and also of course all the history of Charleston, which we enjoyed with the walking tour arranged by the Charleston Place. We really loved the rooftop bar and pool. Have the crab salad. It was the best I have ever had! This is a very romantic hotel, and you will have a smile on your face the entire time you are here!"
