Palmira Barbecue

"Where to start? The beef cheeks, the pork, that hash and rice?! I've been waiting for this spot to open for a while.... and man, was it worth the wait! I had the beef cheeks, pulled pork and hash and rice! Everything was fantastic, but those beef cheeks were next level!! Tender, smokey, beefy chunks of the most amazing meat I've tasted. Palmira is most likely my new favorite bbq in spot in Charleston!"

"My husband and I live down the street and have been waiting for this place to open for a while. Let me tell you it was so worth the wait! We are serious barbecue people and this is hands-down, the best barbecue in Charleston. The beef cheeks, where do I even begin...the bark, the flavor, and the tenderness was AMAZING! The Barbacoa had so much flavor and adding the cotija cheese, cilantro and red onion on a crispy tortilla just enhanced it! Also, I can't get over the mustard slaw and Puerto Rican beans. I LOVE coleslaw and this is my new favorite. I never knew I needed a mustard based slaw in my life until now. The beans were so full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The inside of this place is homey, inviting, and the hospitality we received from the people just made our experience even better. We can't wait to tell our family and friends about Palmira!"

"I ordered a quarter pound of everything so I could give each option a try. My food was full of flavor and just the right temperature. I had hash and rice, and collard greens for sides and they were both very tasty. While I like spicy, I don't think my parents would enjoy the meal just because they are more accustomed to Southern style non-spicy barbecue and sides. But I didn't bring them haha. The staff members were all friendly and informative. The place was packed for lunch but the line went quickly. I will be back."

"My mom and I were first in line for the grand opening of the new location on Highway 61. Very welcoming space, big windows and lots of light. Servers were eager to please, and served us some of the most incredible BBQ I've eaten in a long time. I got the cheddar sausage (brilliant!), and a pile of whole hog, with a side of the savory Puerto Rican style beans. Highly recommend the beans! They are so much better than American style baked beans. The hog was juicy and flavorful, and the latin-inspired sauce on the side was intriguing: mustard based, but with smoky cumin hints. If you like great barbeque, you need to head to this place now!"

"I have been eating off of the Palmira food truck for some time now and had the opportunity to attend the restaurant soft opening last night in West Ashley. Here I am still thinking about the wonderful flavors Hector and team serves up! You've been to all the BBQ spots in town.....pork focused and then you've got your beef focused and some are definitely better than others. I'm writing this review to tell you that if you haven't had Palmira BBQ then you haven't had the best in Charleston. There is something magical happening here. The flavors are so unique and so much better than "the standard" found most places. You've got to experience it for yourself. Make the trip out - it will be worth it. Your BBQ expectations will be elevated and you'll be telling all your friends about it too! This is something special ya'll!"
