"Bowen's Island Restaurant in South Carolina is a must-visit for seafood lovers. Set on a picturesque waterfront, the rustic ambiance is inviting, and the outdoor deck offers stunning sunset views. The menu is a tribute to Southern cuisine, with the oysters being a showstopper—fresh, juicy, and full of flavor. Other standouts include shrimp and grits, blending tradition with exceptional ingredients. The staff are knowledgeable and eager to tailor recommendations to your liking. Round out your meal with a local craft beer or wine. All in all, the restaurant delivers a perfect blend of delicious food, warm service, and breathtaking views."
"We were on vacation and looking forward to steamed oysters in their lower level for a unique dining experience we heard so much about. Tried calling them to see if they were still providing the “steamed oyster experience” but, could only get a recording with standard message and, no mention that the steamed oysters were NOT available due to some problem and a local agency shutting down their ability to provide steamed oysters. Seeing no indication of this on their website, we decided to go because we were so looking forward to the “experience”!Once we got there we found out NO STEAMED OYSTERS!!!! Being hungry we decided to stay ever though we were annoyed with their lack of communication! The staff was friendly, location unique and beautiful! That being said the food was mediocre at best! Management seems more interested in getting “tourists “ there based on a reputation that is long gone! To bad this anticipated experience tuned to be a shizz show! Totally disappointed in the whole experience! No cost per value either! Find someplace else to eat!!!!! ADDITIONAL NOTE: This establishment added sales tax to our bill. The other 12+ restaurants were went to DID NOT!!! Not sure what this game is about!!!"
"Cute restaurant on the river. Nice fresh seafood. The boiled peanuts were really good, as well as the key lime pie. The shrimp was fresh, and the crab cake had lots of crab. The coleslaw left a bit to be desired as was not dressed enough in my opinion."
"It's the epitome of the 'local' feel. We had a great time. Yes it's expensive, about $30 for a dinner plate, but their crab cakes are quite delicious. The view is exceptional. It's a great atmosphere. Don't miss this one."
"Authentic low country cuisine. Beautiful views of the sunset. Order at the bar and serve yourself. No frills, delicious, stuff your face seafood. Sometimes they have specials but don't expect anything fancy here. Pot holes and gravel roads lead you in so driver beware. Fresh oysters and amazing shrimp and grits!"
