The Audubon Newhall Preserve, located at 55 Palmetto Bay Road in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, is a 50-acre nature preserve owned and operated by the Hilton Head Island Audubon Society. "Nothing really wrong with it, but I gave it four stars because when you compare it to hiking in Scotland or the Appalachian mountains, there's not much of a comparison. So, I don't mean to be too critical, but it's just a little stroll and nice that the sponsors have made the effort to provide a place that accomplishes some preservation. Pretty short walk, and probably nothing that is going to be greatly entertaining, but worth doing if you are driving by anyway and looking for something different to do for a few minutes."
"Pretty place, nice little pond and short boardwalk. Allot of the plants are labeled for identification. Easy mostly flat walk with a few roots here and there. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is there's an electrical transformer for the pond aerator that makes a really annoying humming sound. Def glad we stumbled on this place."
"Pleasant place to walk around and learn about the local plant life. During the summer season they have walking tours on some days and if you are solo you can read the signage around the trails. There were a few other couples or families around, but it was quiet enough that I could use a bird app to id birds by sound. The trails were well maintained and the park was clean."
"Excellent trail system and nature preserve. Really enjoyed the botanical garden vibes and large pond. A lot of plant species are labeled. Plenty of benches around the lake and some scattered throughout the trails. Would recommend some type of insect repellent due to mosquitos and ticks. Alligator awareness is a must."
"Quiet and peaceful nature preserve well cared for with alot of interpretative signs and a very well produced overview guide. Free to visit. Small parking lot. We strolled along slowly and saw everything in about 30-40 minutes."
