"This paved trail has parking adjacent to it and a few benches and exercise stops along the way It's very nice in the springtime, but the asphalt would be too hot with no shade for a summer excursion."
"Went to a neighbor's son's flag football game tonight and was really disappointed in the condition of the Field's the children were playing on they had used creek bottom dirt/mud to fill levelthe land, and it was just slick poor surface for children to play on."
"Summer camp is a waste. They basically dump the kids upstairs to “hang out “ I paid extra for the field trip which was VERY disorganized. They did not allow the kids to take their lunch nor brought snacks. They were gone from 10-5! Bus broke down and kids were stuck for an extra 2 hours with no water in 100 degree weather. Counselor made them leave early Because they were getting annoyed! Kids have filthy mouths and bullies and are not reprimanded for it. Def will not return for camp!"
"Very poorly run. Very unorganized. Very dirty. Very disrespectful. I spent TOO MUCH money to send my grandson to "baseball camp" for a week. We were quite excited about this bc he just got done a local league for his first time and he really loves baseball. He never used a bat. Never used his helmet. They played catch and ran bases. I paid extra for that. When you arrive, you are supposed to drive to the side of the parking lot and give that person your name. When you pick them up, you are supposed to pull up and give someone your name. You are not supposed to come into the building to drop off or pick up. Why? A big problem with this is that they do NOT tell you that is their system before you begin. When you do use their system (which involves you NOT going in where the kids go), there is not a single person who will walk over to a child to offer any form of assistance w what they need to carry for baseball, swimming, lunch, sunscreen, etc. They are standing around just watching while the child struggles. If you point out that the child could use some help, they argue w each other about who will help! Basically, the young people that work (all but one that we encountered) are all lazy and whining. They are that way bc whoever is in charge (NEVER saw that person) allows them to be that way."
"I don't even want to give his place ONE STAR! Before I start my RANT.. the women working at the Summerville YMCA off of Cedar Street are amazing and so very helpful and have done so much for me to get my children into this facility. This has NOTHING to do with them. I'm going to start by saying how UNORGANIZED this facility is. The first day I sent my children to camp with two full bottles of sunscreen they never made it back home and NO ONE could help me locate them. The first day both of my children were picked on by a child that the camp already knew was a "trouble maker" as soon as I said his name. NO ONE told me of any incidents with this child until I called and asked them about it. They apologized and said they would take care of it. (Mind you my children have only been here for about 3 weeks total!) Every single day I pick them up they are missing SOMETHING that I have sent them to school with. Whether it be a towel, a bathing suit, a water bottle, sunscreen, lunchboxes, literally anything! They said to send them to school with a water bottle, I did that and I have never seen my daughters water again since the first day of camp! When I come to pick them up not ONE PERSON will get up to try and help my children find their items, oh and you can't go back into the back of the facility to find them with your child either! This is just a few things... which brings me to today! Literally the last straw.... They had a field planned to go to the Riverbank Zoo! At the beginning of the week I discussed the field trip with one of them women up front about how my children WILL NOT go on the field trip Friday. Wednesday came. I AGAIN told someone at the front that my children WILL NOT GO ON THE FEILD TRIP! This morning, Friday, the day of the field trip I was asked when I walked in the door with them if my children will be going on the field trip and I said NO MY CHILDREN WILL NOT BE GOING ON THE FEILD TRIP! I got a phone call at around 3 o'clock from the person picking my children up asking me if i gave permission for my daughter who is 6, to go in this feild trip! I said NOOOOO and I told them that this morning. The person picking them up proceeds to tell me that NO ONE COULD TELL HER WHERE MY DAUGHER WAS FOR THIRTY MINUTES!!!! They said she was at the pool, my 5 year old was at the pool and said "No Annabel went on the field trip!" So let's recap! I told that camp THREEEEEE TIMES THIS WEEK TO NOT SEND MY CHILDREN ON THIS FEILD TRIP! No one could tell the person picking my children up where my daughter was FOR 30 MINUTES. 30 MINUTESSSSS! They didn't even have her on list to go on the FEILD trip! When asked about this situation SOMEONE, who I have yet to find out about, told WHOEVER, that they spoke with someone on my contact list and they said she could go! I SPOKE WITH EVERYONE ON MY CONTACT LIST AND NOT ONE PERSON received a phone call about this!!! This is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE, AND RIDICULOUS THAT A CAMP FOR CHILDREN, someone who you are trusting to watch and take care of your children, COUDL BE SO CARELESS! I would NOT recommend OAKBROOK YMCA TO ANYONE! The other facilities are a different story seeing as though I have no experience with them! BUT THIS FACILITY NEEDS SOME SERIOUS ATTENTION!"
