About the Business
Croft State Park, located at 450 Croft State Park Road in Spartanburg, South Carolina, is a popular tourist attraction and park. Lake Craig is now back to full pool after spillway repairs in 2022, and visitors can enjoy boating on the lake by renting a boat from the park office. The Southside Trail System can be accessed via the new bridge, connecting roughly 20 miles of hiking and biking trails. The park is open daily from 7am to 6pm, with extended hours until 8pm on Fridays during Standard Time and until 9pm during Daylight Savings Time.
Admission fees are $3 for adults, $1.50 for South Carolina seniors, and $1 for children aged 6-15. Children under 5 are free. Pets are allowed in most outdoor areas as long as they are kept on a leash. Park Manager Tim Ritter recommends visitors relax on bench swings along Lake Craig or explore the peaceful creeks in the park.
Croft State Park covers over 7,000 acres of wooded terrain and offers over 20 miles of biking and hiking trails, a playground, picnicking and camping facilities, as well as fishing and boating in two lakes. The park is also known for its equestrian facilities, hosting shows in its arena and providing over 20 miles of equestrian trails. "This park is amazing and huge. There is so much to do, a lot of trail options, you have the lake that is beautiful, and a little river. It is so peaceful. You can also see the horse trail and it is so wonderful, peaceful and magical"
"I always enjoy my time at Croft. There are so many trails and I still haven't explored them all. You do need to bear in mind that while you can hike them all, some also allow cyclists and horses. So if you're on a horse trail you may have to dodge their business. Just be mindful and it's not a big deal. The trails are gorgeous year round."
"The park has a lot of history and plenty of space to roam. Trails for bikes, hikes, and horses abound. Kayak and paddle board rentals are available. The views around the lake are gorgeous, adventurous around the creek. I stayed for 4 nights; both camping loops have water and power hookups, 20/30’s really serve me best and this park has them. The showers and bathrooms are clean and nicely functional; a warm shower is always a treat!"
"This is a long time favorite of mine. When I lived in SC I would camp here ALL the time, taking horses and dogs in tow. Now I visit every time I’m in the area. The trails are well marked and well maintained. Campsites are always in great shape and the bathhouse is usually clean. I love all the water access for horses and dogs to play in. If you’re lucky you’ll visit on a horse show weekend, they are always beautiful to watch!"
