"If you want straight ahead fine dining American food, this is a safe and solid choice. There’s an older crowd here. For the prices you pay, however, I’d recommend Common Thread instead for one of the best meals of your life. Common Thread was one of the best meals I’ve ever had, and I’m a foodie who’s lived in some awesome cities and travelled all over the world centering my trips around food. Even though 45 Bistro is in the Marshallhouse, which is a cool piece of Savannah history, Common thread’s menu is inventive, creative, and the restaurant is located in a historic house that makes for an absolutely incredible atmosphere. Again, 45 Bistro was a straight forward choice, but there was nothing inventive about their menu at all. I’d you’re going to spend that kind of money, I’d personally rather have my mind blown by some culinary masterpieces. Service was good, we only wished the waitress had asked us if we’d like coffee before she brought the checks."
"While visiting Savannah Historic District, we decided to have dinner at 45 Bistro, what a beautiful restaurant and great service. Be advised that prior to going to eat at 45 Bistro, it's best if you call a few days ahead and book reservations. This restaurant is very well known and it gets busy. We had to sit at the bar and eat there, because we didn't know about booking a reservation ahead of time, but it was very comfortable and gave us the opportunity to meet some locals. The bartenders were very attentive and they made sure we were enjoying our meal, and that we had enough to drink. We first ordered drinks, I had the Hotel National (rum drink) and my husband had the Emerald (vodka drink), we both agreed that if the bartender had eased up on the citrus/lime/bitterness of the drink, then it would have bern better. We began our meal by ordering escargot, which they gave you plenty of. It was delicious and unique, since we've never had it with sun-dried tomatoes. The bartender brought us some olive oil with pesto/spices and warm bread, which was really good. We proceeded to order our main course, which I ordered the Local Black Grouper and my husband the cioppino (seafood platter). My grouper was a little fishy and if you don't like the taste of goat cheese, then this isn't the meal to order. I wasn't to excited about my meal, but it wasn't the worse meal that I've had. My husbands cioppino was good, a lot of seafood, but the sauce was a little bland. All in all, it was a great night, beautiful atmosphere with an ok meal. We can say that, "We've been there and done that""
"The food here is very, very good. The atmosphere is a bit more formal, but the staff was still friendly and welcoming. The grouper entree was different and I appreciate the creativity. The risotto with the chicken was a bit under salted, but the chicken was perfectly cooked. The olive oil and pesto served with the bread...chef's kiss. I'd save this place for a special occasion."
"I stopped in for a drink while I cooled down and decided to try the escargot. I was so blown away, I decided to stay for dinner. It was fantastic. I had the duck two ways over root vegetables and it was absolutely amazing. The escargot was a new and exciting taste for me, not made in the traditional way. I will definitely be adding this to my top 5 and visiting whenever I have free time!!! I also had a martini and a glass of wine."
"Enjoyed a meal of escargot and 2 main dishes. The wine list was good enough but not great. Enjoyed the duck and halibut. Good portions. Escargot was unique and flavorful. The pesto oil with bread at the beginning was unique and delicious. Nice dining area. Service was on top of it but our server was a bit rough and felt rushed. Overall good experience."
