"If YOU ARE A SENIOR W/ a Cane, A HEARING LOSS, or cannot escape the building on the 2nd floor DO NOT APPLY. I am a RE Broker w/35+ yrs in the Hudson Valley & many credits in Fair Housing laws. The Rental agent seems to ignore every ADA law I have known. Her rudeness was only surpassed by her insistence that this ACTIVE bldg didn’t allow folks to have an aide, nurse or physician in the building. She was annoyed by my friends hearing loss & when asked to speak up ⬆️ refused to speak louder so that he could remain informed about the details of the property. She then commenced to race walk through the bldg leaving my friend w/ a cane & bad knees behind by a mile. She stated the bldg was for “ACTIVE” Sr Adults. We are both “ACTIVE Sr adults but have some mild limitations. She insisted she screen us prior to discussing the details of the apartment building which contains over 100 units. She rudely stated “we are cat people, no pups allowed “. When asked if service dogs were permitted she wouldn’t respond. She was clearly screening applicants by their physical attributes and we felt but can’t state unequivocally by other characteristics. Those with canes, walkers, care attendants need not apply.. she stated no doctors or nurses or medical personnel came into HER building. The elevators didn’t work & in case of emergency would drop. People who couldn’t walk 2 flights weren’t welcome. It was truly offensive. Neither of us need aides, but do not expect to ever need extra help in this Senior Luxury Building. Apparently all Srs are screened by their ability to run, golf, or race …. Let alone other attributes. CHOOSE FROM DOZENS OF OTHER “SENIOR APARTMENTS” to live out the rest of your days. The building is tainted and the reflection of the owner is set in mgmt “screening” process. #ADA #Seniorhousing #HUD #BruceTanski"
