"I lived here for more than 2 years. There is a roach infestation problem, the elevators don’t always work, and the place is overall dirty. I have only seen them mop the lobby. The plus side to living there was having doormen that can keep your packages in a safe area before you get to them, being able to go to the lounge to do some work, and having a gym in the basement (although I have seen big roaches crawling around there too since it’s close to the garbage area). I will say that the pros definitely did not outweigh the cons."
"The apartments are nicely laid out BUT I’ll think about it before moving to the Drake. The heat is super unstable. How is it possible you have to have one 3 to 4 layers of clothing in your own home. The roach infestation is ridiculous and NOONE cares at all. You call the “onsite” manager and or the super for them to either tell you they working on it but NEVER gets fixed and/or THEY DONT answer !!!!!! This place is a total dump. Management and Employees are totally liars and UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!!"
"This place has sadly turned into a dump! The updated apartments may look good at first glance, but good luck getting anything fixed. Leaking roof, pealing paint, broken appliances, no one will return your emails or even pick up the phone. The elevators are constantly broken and the roach and waterbugs infestation is real. And the owners just keep switching management companies which do absolutely nothing at this point."
"The Drake is a lovely place to reside. I can tell you that the building is clean, quiet, and accessible to almost everything you may need. The lobby is cleaned daily as is each hallway. The laundry and work-out facilities are up-to-date and very clean. Each staff member has been friendly and efficient at the front desk with handling daily on-goings /visitors. Any inquiry that I have sent to the management office directly, has been answered promptly. My apartment was spotless upon move -in and I've no complaints thereafter. I will quickly add that my surroundings neighbors have been living in their units for several decades and welcomed me with no hesitation. As for the neighborhood, the building is on a quite street, conveniently located (within minutes) to the local grocery, pharmacies, shopping, etc.. The subways are a five minute walk to the BLVD, making a commute very easy to plan for daily work. It seems that there are a vast amount of tenants living here long term, as well as new residents such as myself. The building is renovated and modern for its age and I'm very pleased to find such a great place in NY. I hope to stay long term. Just my two cents."
"We lived in the drake for one year- during the pandemic (20-21). We were definitely reeled in by the kind agent who showed us around and the newer units. Our balcony was huge which was a plus during that “lock down” period. maintenance was always readily available and efficient whenever we had any minor issues or concerns. The location is perfect as literally everything is easily accessible by foot. Parking was a headache but- that’s NYC in general. Yes there are bugs, we didn’t have any issues within our apartment but they were easy to spot in the basement areas. The elevators were hit or miss, we have an older dog and little one, this caused a headache maybe a handful of times- but not enough to rant over for hours. MY BIGGEST irritation at the time was the constant water stoppage/scheduled maintenance, can’t say if it’s still an issue- but I remember this being my biggest pet peeve with the building. Overall, we had a pleasant enough experience, the tenants were a mix of entitled older people (likely there before the renovations) and younger families/ individuals. We’ve since purchased our own home but The Drake served it’s purpose as we needed it at the time. I can’t end without saying that the front desk attendants were Gems, always a smile and always willing to help if they could. This is important as they’re the first faces you see upon entering."
