"--- 2024 UPDATE: BUILDING MANAGEMENT HAS GOTTEN WORSE SOMEHOW. See current photos in Jan 2024. Broken gym equipment (6+ months broken), garbage in laundry room, garbage left in hallways. --- Terrible management. Terrible building. DO NOT MOVE HERE! Can I give zero stars? Currently, there has been no gas (kitchen ovens don't work, laundry room is closed) for a month and the building management hasn't yet fixed this issue. They have also been terrible at communicating about it. Very slow elevators, they are always breaking down. As other reviews mention the heating system is terrible, especially since the windows are old and need to be replaced and let in a lot of cold air in the winter. Basically you are paying higher than average rent to get sub-par service. I also hear they are consistently raising the rent once you move in and that is a strategy of EQR."
"Jamall is a great service tech! He is very helpful, resourceful and easy to work with! The staff are all great and the building is clean, has great amenities and it is an absolute pleasure living here for 3 years."
"I want to acknowledge the front desk staff who add a measure of security for residents. They are courteous and welcoming when entering the building and process a large number of package deliveries. As a resident, I appreciate their presence in the lobby"
"I am fed up with the LACK OF MAINTENANCE in this building! Essential systems just keep breaking down. Today, it's below freezing outside and the Westmont has NO HEAT. It's broken with no repair estimate in sight and no full-time maintenance staff (I'm told they quit two weeks ago). So, I'm going to list a few more things that are broken and haven't been fixed in the hope of helping anyone who is considering living here. My front door lock stopped working a week after I moved in. People have come to tinker with it repeatedly, but it hasn't been fixed or replaced. Maintenance likes to say they are "going to get a part and will be right back." They don't come back and there are no spare parts. Even when the boilers are working, my apartment is cold and drafty because the windows are old and they leak. There are only two elevators and they break down every month or two. Washing machines in the laundry room are breaking down and not getting fixed. We are now down to only three that are not out of order. This entire 16 floor building has three working washers and falling. I made the mistake of renting in this building without reading past reviews and regret it, so I hope you are reading this BEFORE signing a lease. Don't make the same mistake I did unless you want to spend a lot of money to live someplace cold, drafty, and literally falling apart."
"Gas didn’t work for 7 months straight during the pandemic. The laundry didn’t work during this time and we had to use electric stoves to cook. Very inconvenient. In addition, the management department was dishonest with us when we moved out and charged us for not informing them we were moving out even though we made it very clear to them on the phone that we had no intention of staying. In addition, the roof was being renovated for 70% of the time I lived there so it was practically unusable and it seemed like they hardly ever had both elevators working. Either one or both seemed to be perpetually getting fixed. They also don’t value current residents. They were listing our apartment for $1000 less a month than what they offered us to renew our lease. We asked them to give us the same rate that they were asking online and they refused. This is a downside of living at a building that is owned by a huge conglomerate. They can afford to treat you poorly and not have to worry about the extremely high annual turnover rate. Glad to be done with this building"
