The Spires

"If you've got low income, have a disability or are elderly, The Spires are a great step above "better than nothing". I've heard horror stories from other places in Lockport. This apartment building is not perfect, but not terrible. Rent is 30% of your income. Pets and an AC unit require paying a deposit, though. Plenty of middle-aged and elderly tenants who are nice, well-mannered people. Younger tenants will keep to themselves much of the time. Not every tenant is worth your time, though -- some people here are considered mentally disabled for a reason. But for the most part, the folks here are harmless. The staff are nice and helpful enough, though sometimes maintenance can be delayed. There are small get-togethers held yearly for holidays in the lobbies and outside in the summer, and weekly events such as "nutrition workshops". Never bothered with the latter, but the former includes picnics for the 4th of July and tenant potlucks for Thanksgiving."
