"I wanted to like this place and make it my nail salon (especially being black owned), but unfortunately I haven’t had the best experiences here. Thank you to the receptionist today who tended to my bleeding cuticle. And the managers who she spoke to that offered to give me free service. Appreciate it. My suggestion is more for the nail techs maybe more training in professionalism and how to do cuticles properly as I have been cut two out of the three times I visited by different nail techs. This cut I received today is pretty bad, but it will heal. I wish the nail salon all the best, but have no plans to return."
"I’ve only been here twice. Each time Joan was the nail tech. She does a great job and will make sure you didn’t leave with anything less than the feeling of being excited over your nails. She’ll make suggestions and will take her time throughout the whole experience. Customer service is great! If you have an inquiry, send an email or call. In my email experience, response time is prompt. I plan on being a recurring customer. I recommend booking an appointment to see for yourself."
"PROS: A place that does nail art in Brooklyn instead of Manhattan. It’s nice that they pay their nail techs well. Easy to make appointments online, with better availability than most other nail art salons. Nail techs are super friendly. CONS: Expensive (though this was right after they opened and it sounds like they’ve made price changes). Variability in the skill level of techs. One of the owners seems to have an attitude (which a lot of other reviews also mention so it wasn’t an isolated incident). REVIEW: Came here two times shortly after they opened (so this was a while ago). Both times were for special manicure designs. My first visit with friends went well, but it was a bit overpriced compared to if I received the same design at another nail art salon. I was happy with the design, and the nail artists were very friendly. You get the option between a complimentary peach Bellini or what I think was coconut water. I was happy to finally have one of the fancy nail artist salons in Brooklyn instead of having to go to Manhattan. One of my friends made a remark on the cost of her nails when checking out with the owner, and I feel like the owner could have responded more professionally and with less attitude. The second time I booked an appointment by myself since I couldn’t get an appointment with my usual nail salon for the same design I do every year around the holidays. When I showed the design, the owner said they wouldn’t have time for it since I booked a lower level visit. I never get my cuticles pushed back or cut, so I mentioned that this saves time that could be used toward the design. After receiving some pushback, we moved forward with the appointment. I was then told that it would cost extra because the design would require cat eye nails for the background just because it was shiny, which didn’t make sense since I get this done every year elsewhere without additional charges, so I declined. Throughout the visit, the tech asked about color preferences which was nice, but when I asked for her opinion a couple times, she seemed really hesitant (whereas other nail artists I’ve worked with have given good recommendations regarding color/style). In the end, I was very unhappy with the outcome because it looked nothing like the design and was very bland considering the exuberant price I paid, but I’m not the type to complain out loud. I could even tell the owner thought they looked terrible from the way she looked at them and didn’t say a word. I still paid the full price and gave a 20% tip but didn’t go back after that."
"I recently visited thelaqlab for the first time now that they lowered their prices. I got a gel mani ($50) + chrome ($25). My manicurist paid such close attention to my nail length and cuticles, I appreciated her thoroughness! She also took her time to make sure she got the right chrome color fix to achieve what I was looking for. Overall, a high quality experience. I will be back!"
"Hard gel. Was expensive but worth it 100%.. lasted me about 5 weeks and I work with my hands a lot (I'm a nurse so a lot of popping open medications, washing hands and hand sanitizer). The manicurist did an amazing job she really took her time and my cuticles looked amazing. First picture is freshly done. Second picture is after 5 weeks"
