"I was waiting until my partner and I bought a house to post this since we wouldn’t need the rental reference anymore, but this place is a scam. My partner was attending college in watertown when we signed a one year lease with jenny in 2018 for a half-finished house (downstairs was livable upstairs was not). We started having trouble with pests like bats, attic window was knocked out, house was in filthy condition, basement flooded so much in the winter that it destroyed the heater and we were without heat for almost four days while maintenance was installing the noisiest sump pump I have ever heard (went off every few minutes just below our bedroom). To make things worse, Jenny called us a few months before we moved out and asked if she could renovate the upstairs. We said yes to be courteous, but what a mistake that was. Loud music and yelling/power drills sounding off 5 days a week eight hours a day. Can’t sleep, can’t function, our dog’s losing his mind. Not to mention the work people were using our power and running an air conditioning upstairs that we did not concent to pay for. We get through that and my father-in-law does the final walkthrough with her and she decides to ding us for stuff like dust on ceiling fans, residue in the oven, bends in the blinds, and staining on the tub (which was there when we moved in and she knew it). Wanted to take out half our security deposit so we contacted small claims and demanded receipts for what she was charging. For a while she wouldn’t produce them for us until she gave them to court. She was charging out to somebody that we can’t find. She offered to pay a little of our electric bill for her using of our electricity, but we were finished with Conley’s. We were model tenants and payed rent months in advance. We did not deserve this. No idea if this is still relevant being that it’s 2023 now, but renters beware."
"Make sure you do a proper Move out inspection before handing in your keys. Being I have an 8 month old child when the landlord offer to do an inspection without me, I took it.(My first mistake) She then did the Inspection and sent me a "TEXT" of that they were going to be taking off my deposit. No intention of letting me go in and fix what needed to be fix to get the full deposit( because she gave me an extra week to do it BEFORE the inspection!!) To start with they wanted to get me for Drip pans( I lived here for two years with many attempts to get them replaced), lightbulbs and for a full professional cleaning. Now yes the bathroom was Dirty and i offered to come back and clean once i was notified about it. NOPE, they used the "because I was so nice and gave you a week and it wasn't needed I guess" the landlords words in a TEXT she was not going to let me come back to clean. -In all I am VERY upset on how they treated me and my family, after being great tenants for two years. We are also renting from them again and we have a list of things that need to be fixed and they will not get back to me AT ALL for even an appointment to get everything looked at. But they want me to do my part.....Stay on top of them or they will do whatever they can to walk all over you."
"I can truly say that they worked with me and worked with me some more. They not only saved me some money (a lot). When I didn't like the apartment that I had picked, instead of getting annoyed they found solutions. Whenever I reached out to them they made sure that I didnt have to worry about things. I suggest you reach out to them and tell them what you are looking for. They provide a wide variety of properties. Be reasonable with your expectations on rental pricing and quality. My apartment was in Sackets Harbor and didn't last more than a month on the market when I moved out. It was great spot and everything was included at 995.00 for the rent. A quality apt in a quality location."
"I rented from Conleys for 4 years. Not once had any issues. They were always super easy to get ahold of if an issue did arise. I would have renewed my lease if I didn't move out of state! I got my full security deposit back when I did leave. I will always recommend them to people who need an affordable place in Watertown."
