"Big improvement since the management got more helpful hands. Renovations are still have place here and there, but at least we get warnings and they are done in timely manner, not after hours. Mail room has more people that handle mail within 24hrs. The laundry room got upgrade, so the machines and dryers are new and clean. No more mold."
"These negative reviews are so crazy. Lived here for 6 years. The building and apartments are great. Free gym and AC. quick in requests and repairs. Great doormen and other staff. Nice gym. Great roofs. Super location for kids. The idea that people don’t move because it is a hassle is absurd. They don’t move because the building is great. Yes the elevators don’t work too often but that’s life. More than one not working has never happened since I moved in. And the water shutting off often midday is not true. 5 stars. My children and I love this residence. Completely. Are these negative reviews posted by a competing management company? I think so. Oh and no broker fee! Luxury building at its best!"
"This place seems great on the outside- the inside is another story. It is a very old building where the elevators never work properly, mail packages get lost, and most doormen/“security” are not friendly. Although it’s has never happened to me, I’ve heard of people having their laundry stolen. Additionally, I do not expect quiet due to being in NYC- however, you’ll almost never get a good nights sleep. Construction is always going on at some level of the building at all hours. Since my time in the city I have met people who live in other Glenwood management buildings and have a good experience. My recommendation to anyone would be to check those sites out for this is for sure not a “luxury” building."
"I agree with Melissa. The building is old and dated (1964) and the rent is so high (can't be justified). The HQ tries to increase the rent every year to the max allowable level, and it is too much (and sometimes the rent is higher than a new tenant, which does not make sense and unfair). I have been having serious insect issues for a long time but the management could not resolve it and my expensive clothes have been eaten up by insects. They have a common storage but lost my two suitcases (such a mess). Some workers are nice but not all of them. I hope they stop increasing rent so much so that a long term tenant can continue to live there if they wish (they are losing many tenants every year due to a rent increase). They can't do this anymore as many newer and nicer buildings have been built around the area (with washer and dryer in a unit, and a better and deeper bath tub for a human being, not an animal)"
"My family and I moved into the Pavillion about 3 months ago, and we've had non-stop problems. with Glenwood. When we talk to other residents, they all tell me they hate Glenwood too, but they don't move because moving is such a hassle, and they don't write reviews because they fear retaliation from Glenwood. Last week a pipe burst and flooded about 15 apartments in the building. My neighbor saw the pipe and said that it looked about 60 years old, all rusted and clearly needed to be replaced decades ago. Because of the flood, a lot of our clothing, furniture, rugs, etc. were destroyed. Glenwood will pay for none of that. The only thing they'll do is scrape and re-paint the walls that have water damage (mold be damned - they refuse to open up the walls). For the tenants that can't be in their apartment because of the flood, they put us up in a super super horrifically awful crap hotel in midtown. My whole family in about 300 square feet, with cockroaches and stale cigarette smell. No compensation, no apologies. Here's the scary part: other residents have said that floods and mold are common, since the pipes haven't been replaced - ever - and the building is from the 1950's. So, any resident should be careful to put buckets under anything that could get ruined in a flood, as precaution, because you never know when another old rusty pipe will burst. Other issues: - The doormen let anyone in. Anyone. Without asking. They're also very lazy so don't expect them to open the door for you more than once every 20 times you enter. - An apartment near us has a guy who smokes on his balcony and it disturbs everyone around him, with the smoke going right into our apartment. I mentioned it to staff and they said "it's a smoking building", so there's nothing we can do. Aside from wait for our kids get cancer from it. - Walls are super thin and you can hear people above and beside your apartment, talking. - The hallways smell disgustingly strongly when anyone cooks. And not the good smells, I'm talking about that awful burnt grease smell. - Management says they'll do stuff and doesn't. - The buildings and management are understaffed and staff they have are lazy and careless. - The building's garage has already put at least 12 dents and scratches on our van. - The elevators were, by law, supposed to get replaced over a decade ago (according to our neighbor, who's lived here for 30 years), but they were just repaired instead, and so they're out of order several times per week. - The package room has lost several of our packages, and management says they'll follow up but never does. - There's mold in our bathroom, and they replaced our moldy cabinet, but the mold just came back because all the pipes are old and leaky. - There are other infestations in the building, like tiny bugs (I'm not sure what they're called, but they have lots of legs). - My neighbors say (I can't personally attest to this one yet since I've only been here for 3 months), that they jack the rent up as much as possible every year, and hide what new apartments are renting for (ie. you can't see the floor and size and price online)."
