Dexter Laundromat

"I have only used Dexter Laundromat twice and both times had trouble. They only take coins, no cards and today the change machine was out of order. There was a sign that the attached liquor store had change however they are closed on Mondays. Went to the Dexter Market for change and was told that they didn't have quarter rolls and would I like $1 bills? For a coin operated machine?!?! Finally a supervisor came out and gave me change. Know that if you come have plenty of quarters before hand or else laundry will take twice as.long."

"Sure, it's clean, heated in the winter and air conditioned in the summer, but the main purpose is to get clothes and other articles clean. If that can't be done, a place is useless. About a month or so ago, the large volume washer left black, oily marks all over an $80 comforter. We called to complain, but the owner, or manager, apologized and basically blew it off. We shrugged our shoulders and figured it was a one time ocurrence. After all, we'd been using the laundromat for a couple of years without any problems, so we let it go. We used the laundromat the other day, and a dryer destroyed two sets of sheets, leaving black marks all over them, and tearing a large hole in one. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. We complained and were told they had a "user beware" policy. This happened due to poor maintainance of the machines, not something we did. Their machines are old, outdated, and poorly maintained. We can't go back for fear what and when something could happen again. We also won't return due to the cavalier attitude the business displayed when we informed them of the damage their machines caused to our belongings. I estimate our loss is approximately about $150 in all. So, thanks for nothing and they lost a customer who spends an appreciable amount of money there each week."

"Like with any laundromat, there are pros and cons. Very clean. Has AC in the summer. Heat in the winter. (You may find that odd that I put that in, but I've been to a lot of laundromats. AC and heat may not always be an option.) Largest washer (there is only one) is $6 per load , next size down (there are three) is $4 per load and the regular size washer (there are 10+) is $2.50 per load. There is a public bathroom, tables to fold the laundry and a vending machine with some laundry soap, dryer sheets etc.. in case you run out. The Dexter Market is also next door. There is no utility sink to rinse anything out. However, there is a sink in the bathroom. It's small but it works. DO NOT waste your money on the soda/snack vending machines. It will either take your money and not give you product or the product you get will be expired or taste weird. Good luck trying to get money back for it. There are some older electronic games to keep the kids entertained and/or slightly outdated magazines. If you have a problem with any of the washers or dryers, simply tell staff. It will be fixed in a relatively short amount of time. Staff can be located next door in the liquor store or next door in the Dexter Market. Staff is usually friendly and accommodating. Overall highly recommend."
