Reviews of Sam's Point Trailhead
"Great hike and great view of the waterfall. I did an entire Loop followed the alltrails app and I was out there for about 4 hours. A portion of it is a gravel road that you will have to walk on. There are only two stalls for the bathroom and there was a long line both times. Great views . I brought my dog along and she made it through the whole loop. A bit of rock scramble but nothing major."
"I visited in Mid-October on a sunny day and the huckleberry had amazing red color. The trails were flooded from the rain the day before and the Ice caves were very wet but still doable if you have good hiking boots on. I had to walk through a fast moving river right before getting to Verkerdeerkill Falls but thankfully it wasn't deep. Had a beautiful day hiking more than 10 miles in a big loop. The ice caves trail is so cool and fun and not hard at all. They have sensor-operated lights inside the caves. The parking lot was bigger than expected. I got there at 9:30 am on a Friday and was one of the first cars there"
"The hike to the top was okay, but unfortunately they turned the water off, so the waterfalls weren’t too impressive. The Ice Cave was the star of the hike and truly the reason for the high rating."
"Beautiful hike. Did loop started on LR Sam's point loop road left, left onto HC high point carriage right onto HT high point trail, right on to SWT/LP trail to verkeerderkill falls follow that VK trail to right on ICR ice caves road and then left back to LR loop road to visitor center"
"One of the greatest spots to be under the Catskills. The views are absolutely breathtaking and the hike up is very easy. Once you’re up there you’re able to follow other trails to a lake, berry picker house ruins, falls and ice caves. Make sure you get there with enough time to see all!! The hike to the falls is very long (about an hour to the falls) so plan accordingly. Also just like the other reviews parking is an absolute nightmare and then it’s $10 to park. Dogs are also allowed in the park."
