"A grand hotel in the perfect location for catching Broadway shows! The lobby has that by-gone era feel with marble walls and oil paintings, but it is spacious and welcoming. The staff are delightful. The bartender and night manager were great conversationalists, we really enjoyed hanging out in the bar with them. The bed was super comfortable, we slept in until 11 am. They were very flexible and held our luggage and extended valet service on our car until after well after checkout. We definitely plan on going back there again next time we are in NYC."
"I love The Michelangelo! The location right off Times Square is so convenient to traveling anywhere you want to go uptown or downtown. The staff is so friendly and takes such good care of its guests. My hotel suite was lovely and even had a fawn statue in it. Wonderful king size beds."
"The room was spacious and decor was elegant. The bed was so comfortable, and the bathroom spacious with a lovely soaking tub. All of the staff was very nice and extremely helpful. It was decorated beautifully, especially in the reception area. Elegant!"
"We booked the Michelangelo for four nights while in NY. I really liked the look of the hotel, but the location was the primary reason I booked this hotel. In summary, I really had higher hopes for this location. The lack of service, cleanliness and lack of class from the staff is enough to consider before booking a night at this hotel. The Good: - $10 drink credit per night, per room - Location was great, and a quick walk to Times Square - Noise levels from outside seemed to be contained, beside the bike taxi's with the loudest speakers known to man - The room appeared nice The Bad: - Room service was never available when requested, each time we called room service it rang to voicemail. We ended up having to call the front desk for most things. - Ice bucket is located in the room, without a liner. When we called (as instructed by documentation next to bucket) to ask for ice, they told us to get it ourselves at the ice machine the next floor up - The room had a specific sour aroma, but it was not clear where it was coming from. The Ugly: - The bath tub needs to be cleaned, badly. I could simply wipe down many mold and soap spots with a piece of tissue, and see tons of dirt come off. I keep my own bathroom cleaner than this. To know this is not MY grime makes it even worse. - The shower curtain appears to have been the source of the sour smell. It was easy to tell the curtain was sour, and had not been changed before we arrived - When we attempted to enter the hotel one evening, the bar tender was outside directly in front of the double doors smoking a cigarette. Not only is this rude and disrespectful of others right for clean air, it caused my wife to have a mild asthma attack. This just looks and smells terrible for a hotel who's trying to play the classy expensive hotel."
"The service at the Michelangelo is always exceptional and the rooms are large and well appointed. I have stayed here many times. A few years ago, when I commuted from PA to NYC it was my hotel of choice for frequent overnight stays. The location, near Rockefeller Center, is very convenient. Two nights ago I stayed in NYC because I was doing the marathon the next day. I had requested a quiet room when I booked and I was told to speak to the reception staff about this when I checked in. The room I was initially assigned was beautiful but faced two busy streets. The reception staff said they would have to speak to the manager when she got out of a meeting. They said they were fully booked so they weren’t sure what could be done. I left my packed bags in the room and went out to dinner with some friends. While I was at dinner my phone rang and it was the manager letting me know that she had received the request and she would work on it. She called back minutes later to let me know that my luggage would be moved, and I should stop by the desk to get my new keys when I returned. Thanks to her working this out for me, I was able good night’s sleep."
