Mayfair Hotel, Ascend Hotel Collection

"I see some of the old reviews are not the best but it’s clear that they are under new ownership and have had a renovation done. We leave tomorrow and are sad to say bye to this cute, comfy, perfectly staffed hotel! If I’m ever staying in this area again I will definitely be choosing the Mayfair hotel again and will recommend to everyone who asks. The room was plenty enough for the wife and I for a 5 day stay. With a mini fridge and little closet, although we used neither during our time here. The lobby is warm, cozy, with hot water, a selection of teas, hot chocolate mix and fresh coffee. The staff are beyond attentive and helpful! We had our room turned over daily without any complaints. TV is plenty large with all the popular channels and option to cast from your phone. We had a window but it pointed to another building, I didn’t expect to have a perfect view for this low price in NYC, but also prefer it this way to avoid the street noise. (I should note, my wife is very picky when it comes to smells, dirty rooms, etc., and she did not complain one bit about this place, nor did I) Overall, when visiting NYC you’re spending nearly all day out exploring; this quaint, little, cozy hotel is more than enough to come back to and unwind with a cup of tea, and late night movie in bed before your next day of exploration."

"A plus for service. Unfortunately, there was a cable problem affecting some rooms. Not only did the staff move me to a new room, but the manager brought the shower chair to my new room. Rooms are cozy and had a pleasant European feel. I definitely would stay here again. Kudos to the staff and manager!"

"I was a little scared to stay at this hotel after reading the reviews, but my experience was great! The room was quite small, but clean and cozy. The location is wonderful, close to everything. The staff were attentive and kind. I would stay here again."

"What an amazing experience at this hotel! Beautifully updated but still has that historical charm. The location is perfect if you want to experience the tourist attractions. The subway is also a short walk away which is a huge bonus. There is also a grocery store right across the street and a fridge in the room so you can get basics for your stay which is great if you are on a budget. The service is friendly and welcoming every time you walk into the hotel. The rooms were very clean and comfy. The housekeepers do an outstanding job as well. Every time we came back to our room the bed was tightly made, stocked with new warm towels and an overall clean room, it was great. The housekeepers outdid themselves and we were eternally grateful for that! The hotel itself was quiet and we had no issues at all. We will be back to NYC and when we are, we will be staying at The Mayfair. Thank you to the staff for providing us with such a great place to experience the city!"

"Wow! I was nervous due to the previous reviews, but was delightfully proved wrong. It has been fully renovated as of December of '23. This hotel is small and tucked away, right on Broadway and Times Square, and near every subway line. The location could not be better. It had clean rooms, daily cleaning, friendly staff, and it is ultra safe. They lock the exterior doors of the hotel every night at 11, making it accessible only to those with keys. The rooms are small, but match the price and the city. Probably 15x10 ft for the 2 person suite, with an added 8x8 ft bathroom. 55 inch TV. Again, cannot say enough how happy we were. It made for a great honeymoon!"
