"It was lovely! I go every year and still marveled at the creations like it was the first time. People of all ages can appreciate and enjoy the display. There were some trains that can be controlled with a button, which was a delight to both kids and adults. The level of details on the structures was simply astounding. I would suggest going after the holidays if you want to avoid the crowd, but definitely reserve tickets in advance regardless. Parking is $22 at the NYBG, consider arriving early if you want to find free street parking and walk the rest of the way. If you decide to take a detour and veer off the path of the train exhibit to look at plants in the other part of the conservatory (you’ll know when you get to this part) the path does lead back to the train exhibit BUT you’ll have skipped one significant part of the display, so be sure to turn right back and check out that part before exiting the exhibit, since you can’t re-enter once you’ve exited."
"Go, go, go!!! What an experience! The amount of detail is out of control! Well done! It was worth it, as a New Yorker it was cool seeing old buildings and the “old NY.” Wear comfortable shoes, it took about an 1.5 to see everything and appreciate the details. It starts off outdoors. They also have a fun scavenger hunt for the kiddies, and anyone who wants to play. I did!"
"Changes every year, so even if you’ve been before, it’s time to visit again. This year’s entrance through the lawn is great and serves as a great introduction. It’s an impressive display of creativity and an annual tradition for us."
"First year going and it was worth every penny. The detail on some of the structures were incredible! And the layout was perfect. They also time the entry...so although once you're in you can stay as long as you choose, it's not overly crowded because they monitor and control the entrance! The outdoor lights were very well done along we reasonably priced food stands. All in all a very happy experience!"
"Loved the use of moss and wood and mushrooms and water. Beautiful and not too small. Found it a little pricey but seems like it has to be because of high crowd volumes. A little more interactive trivia type of areas might have been nice"
