The Cock 'n Bull Restaurant 5342 Parkis Mills Road, Galway, NY 12074

"We dined here for the first time on a Sunday evening recently to avoid the Saturday crowd. There happened to be a party of 15 or so that ordered before us. We started with appetizers—I chose the French Onion soup, which was superb-companion had a yummy salad. The wait for our entrees was a long one, but the ambiance of the room with fireplace was assuaging. The large party was served first, then the table next to us, then our entrees arrived. Unfortunately our entrees were not hot, in fact the mushrooms on my steak were actually cold. Normally I would consider sending the dishes back, but not after waiting an hour and a half. The meals were tasty and filling, but the temperature of the food certainly diminished the experience. I don’t understand the issue, as the party and table next to us had gotten their meals, so ours sat in the kitchen for a while? Not sure. A two hour experience that under better circumstances would have been worth the hour drive each way."

"The food here is amazing and the service is great! Specials and menu items from locally sourced farms. Live music is noted on the website. Some are ticketed events and reservations recommended for live music. We waited in the bar for our table and had an attentive bartender. Maxine was our sweet attentive server and we really enjoyed talking with her about her family and her coffee shop. We will be back and bring friends. This was our 4th time here with a 30 minute drive. We will call for a reservation next time. This restaurant has a huge loyal local following - late at night large tables just stick around."

"UPDATE... We decided to give it another try and were pleasantly surprised. We had the Bruschetta and Clams Casino for appetizers. Once again the appetizers were very good! My wife had a Raspberry Mocow Mule which she loved. For the main course my wife had the Delmonico this time with mashed potatoes, onions and mushrooms with zucchini, great flavor. To give a fair comparison from our first visit, I tried the Smoked Brisket again and it was 100% better than the first time. Good smoke flavor, tender and juicy. Staff was great again. Glad we gave them a 2nd shot. Apatizers- praline bacon and oyster on the half shell with blood orange mignonete were amazing. Mushrooms encrusted NY strip steak with mashed taters, onion and mushrooms was good but steak was a little tough. Smoked brisket with Mac n cheese and slaw...slaw was blah, Mac n cheese was good, made with cavatapi macaroni which I liked. Brisket on the other hand was more shredded than sliced against the grain as it should be, tough and dry. BBQ sauce was less than impressive. Wait staff was great. Aroma upon entey was great with the smell of smoked meat which whet my appetite...however soon to be let down. Went for our anniversary, mentioned when we called ahead and when seated..no offer of complimentary desert, which you get at even the basic restaurants.Would I return based on my selection tonight...for appetizers..yes, entrées..for the price and quality..NO"

"Very cool place. We have passed it for a couple years on our way back and forth from sacandaga but never stopped. The other night they had live music and we stopped in. Food was very good. Service was good. The atmosphere was great too. I could spend all day looking around at the cool stuff hung on the walls and hanging from the ceiling. We will definitely be back again."

"A wonderful experience. The rustic space and roaring fireplace was enough to make it great. The wait staff was super friendly and responsive. Then the food arrived. The scallops parmesan over parmesan risotto was delicious. The prime rib end cut was amazing. The side of smashed potatoes was yummy. Definitely going back. Food came out as ordered and was quick even though it was busy when we Arrived. Looking forward to trying the place when the warmer weather allows for their outdoor dining."
