The Country Vet

"I would describe this practice as pathologically unpleasant and ethically challenged. After bringing our pets here for quite a while I would describe the Country Vet as mediocre at best and I have been a pet owner for forty years and lived in five major cities. They "penny pinch" loyal customers -see below- which tells you all you need to know about their character. Unfortunately, we are not spoiled for choice in these parts and they know it. If you must use them, ask for a female vet. The male acts like he has a spectrum disorder. No eye contact, no empathy and seemingly unaware of how normal people with heart behave. After we spent hundreds of dollars for office visits he then had the gall to charge us extra $$ to WRITE a prescription for flea medication. Not only is it unethical, it is illeagle for a business to make up charges on the fly. All charges are supposed to be posted. The office staff defended his actions, and I sware this is true, by claiming that the hundreds dollars we had paid him was not enough to cover the cost of his prescription pad, hahaha. To put it in perspective, vets in the Finger Lakes earn upwards of 150K annually. He should be able to afford his own prescription pad. To make matters worse, they only gave us one of the two prescriptions we were supposed to receive. Just terrible and greedy. Cannot recommend."

"Petty, Punitive and about as compassionate as Mengele with Menstrual cramps. Exam rooms and equipment in them are often dirty and exams are rushed. Twice this has caused pain for my pets (and wallet). The first time was when I brought my cat in b/c she was sick. I could hear it in her breathing. The doctor told me "nothing was wrong". A few days later she became lethargic and developed a fever so we had to go all the way back and pay for another exam, which we did without complaint. The second time, I brought our new dog in with an ear Infection but the doctor only treated One ear. When that didn't clear up and we had to come back, the vet was surprised to discover the other ear also had an infection. I am not a doctor but checking both ears seems like a "no brainer". In 45 years of pet ownership, I have never experienced that. It took a total of three visits to cure her ear infection (cha-ching!). We probably should not have returned here after that but we are loyal. I love vets. I worked for a vet all through school. I am the type who will bring them cookies pr a small gift as a 'thank you" but honestly, I have never felt inspired to do that here."

"Not sure why anyone likes this place. The front desk is always over whelmed and unfriendly. The doctors are dismissive and uncaring. We lost our Tucker, 13 year old Yorkie after being misdiagnosed at least three times at County Vet. Unfortunately I do blame myself for not leaving sooner and spending over 1,500.00 for absolutely no reason. The technician dropped the ball and never called back or had the doctor call back when I called early in the day with an emergency situation. Sadly after sending an email to Country Vet that evening explaining how disappointed I was in the service I had been receiving I rushed Tucker to Cornell Animal Hospital. They were wonderful, caring and helpful every step of the way beginning with my call to them at 4am. Although they could not save him at that point they were absolute Angels from my 1st call to them all the way through to receiving Tuckers remains a week later. Ironically after reading my email that morning Dr. Yates did call me. At that point my dog was about to die so I answered quickly, thanked him for calling and told him that we were at Cornell now and they were about to euthanize Tucker. Tucker was his patient for more than 13 years. He never said he was sorry, no one in the office has called to check on us or send condolences or to address any of my concerns that were sent in the email. In my opinion if you have a serious issue with your animal you should not trust this practice. Our daughter and some other friends have also lost animals after spending considerable amounts of money and being sent home with out being diagnosed properly here. They should have addressed the lump on Tuckers back more thoroughly and not brushed if off as nothing. Especially after spending 3 different nights there in a few months time receiving fluids and antibiotics and having him bouncing back each time. Again I blame myself as much for not recognizing the pattern sooner and believing the County Vet that it was was pancreatitis. I researched as much as I could and knew that Tuckers symptoms didn’t completely match. I know how much we miss our best friend and needed to post this so maybe I could save one or more of your critically ill furry friends. Trust your instincts and get a 2nd opinion or be your pets advocate and research the symptoms on your own."

"We had just adopted 2 rescue dogs,and this was their first time there. My dogs didn't have anxiety, they were treated well. The vet went over things to help with issues we might have with rescues. Glad we chose Country Vet"

"Doctor button is great, she has a kind heart and teaches you about your pet. Steer clear of Dr Michael Carsale his condescending attitude will have you hating the vet more than your pet, he is arrogant and Will basically call you stupid or a liar if his expert opinion is different than what you think or know."
