"it is a good place but needs more nice kids"
"It helps me alot so thank you who ever you are"
"I attended a board meeting, the facilities were adequate."
"Atrocious, horrible. Run to the hills (suburbs). Overpaid, ineffective, inefficient. I understand Syracuse deals with systematic poverty. Look at the funding in contrast to the state and the country."
"I wish I could rate higher, because the district tries very hard to help out center city students and provide a good education. The administrative offices, however, are absolutely miserable to deal with. It's a shame that the first office that new teachers have to deal with is the office of Security and the horrid employees and non-existent attitude of professionalism or sense of service. Upon arriving at SCSD, I was told that I need to have an appointment to even go into the security office. Kind of strange since I called about two dozen times TO NOT GET EVEN A SINGLE ANSWER OR LIVE PERSON ON THE PHONE. Tough to make an appointment when they dont pick up. I left two detailed messages, as requested, and never received a call back for a simple confirmation of my question. A two minute call. The "administrative assistant" is only capable of assisting herself with sitting on her ass and not doing her job, it appears. Oh, and before you say "well, they are busy," when I finally went into the office there was no line, nobody being helped, and the phone DID NOT RING ONCE while I waited FOR OVER A HALF HOUR for a five-minute fingerprinting. And this was three weeks into the school year, WELL PAST their "hump." Absolutely shameful. Everyone in the Security office gives the rest of SCSD a bad image for first year teachers. This is why people are justified in hating on pensioners. It's perfectly clear that the people who work in this office are careless, unprofessional, and vastly overpaid. THEY BARELY DO ANY WORK, from my observations. You'd think if they were getting a fat paycheck every week to sit on their ass and not help anyone, they'd at least be a little friendlier, a little more accomodating. Sorry first year teachers. If you aren't already in the NYSTeach system, this experience is going to be absolutely miserable for you. Buckle up and prepare to be treated like dirt."
