"The new way they are making us go through the portal to make appointments or call a customer service/support line needs to be removed. It won't allow me to make an appointment on the site and I've called the number daily and have been told that my request for an appointment has been forwarded with no call back and it's been over a week of trying daily. Currently looking for a new doctor. And have also gone on the portal to message the doctor to hopefully resolve this. I do love the care my children get but sense this new way of scheduling appointments we have not been able to get them in and I've been to the ER quite a few timess due to not getting them in the doctors."
"My grandchildren unfortunately go here. I've tried to talk the mother of my grandchilden out of not going there. They are terrible. My poor granddaughter has gone a few times and they won't give her any medicine. She literally was coughing so bad she sounded like a 90 yr. smoker. It was terrible. I believe in building immunity but this poor little girl suffered for 3 weeks and then she got an ear infection. They finally gave her medicine while 3 of us were already on antibiotics a week prior due to her being contagious. Her cough was serious not just a cold. Absolutely awful! I wouldn't recommend anyone to go there. And, by the way, that was NOT the first time with this poor girl."
"My two children, ages 13 and 14, have been going here since they were babies. Unfortunately, the level of care has declined sharply in the past few years. Most of our favorite providers no longer work there, and some of their new policies are confusing and don’t make much sense. For example, I recently called to make my sick son an appt to get checked out, and was told that all the appointments for that day were full. I completely understood that there was a possibility that he wouldn’t get in right away, and asked if I could make an appointment for the following day. The receptionist told me I’d have to wait until 8am the next day and call to make him a “same day sick appointment”. I asked if I could just make him an appointment ahead of time to be seen, since I’ve done this many times, and I have to be at work by 7:30 and I’m not able to make calls at 8am until my lunch break. The receptionist told me that I couldn’t make an appointment ahead of time due to “limited availability “ and I’d still have to wait until tomorrow. Never have I had to wait until the next day to make an appointment for my child- especially when I’m not guaranteed he’s even get to be seen that day. I’ve never heard anything so ridiculous in my life. This place is not a Dr office in which you can schedule appointments for your sick children. We ended up taking him to urgent care with another provider that day, and he was able to get the prescriptions and treatment that he needed. We will be looking for a new pediatrician as soon as possible due to this unprofessionalism."
"I’ve been going back and forth to this doctors office for almost 10 years now. All of the doctors and nurses there are great and have always taken care of me when I need something. I go to call to get a refill, Dona answers the phone and I tell her what I need refilled. Donna then starts telling me that I don’t need the medication, I can’t get the refills I need, and then ultimately asks why I need the medication. This is a RECEPTIONIST. Not a doctor. So not only did she violate the HIPPA law, but she violated my personal business as well."
"We love Stony brook pediatrics!!! They are always available for our kids. They are caring and they let you take as much time as you need till you are satisfied with the outcome of your child. They are willing to write referrals for specialist as soon as you ask. They will try there best to squeeze you in if your kid gets sick."
