Dr. Nickel's Animal Hospital

"The Doctor himself and the receptionist are excellent people who are very kind and patient. HOWEVER, the wife/girlfriend/whatever has no customer service and has no care for the animals. She will drop you in a second if you ask to speak to the doctor himself or ask for another person in general. I know personally 5 people who have left due to the same reason. Please consider another vet before this one"

"Dr. Nickel and his staff go above and beyond for their patients. I am never nervous to bring my dogs to the Vet as I know they are in great hands. The compassion, knowledge, and care they have is nothing but amazing. I never question their recommendations as I know they have my pets’ best interest in mind. Thank you Dr. Nickel and staff for caring so much!"

"I was extremely disappointed with Dr Nickel ‘s office from the moment I called to have my dog become a patient. The technician bullied me as to why I wanted to change my vet after seven years and was told that their office was not one of convenience, because I explained to the woman it wasn’t convenient to drive out to Rome for my dogs appointments since I now lived in Utica. Plus I really heard nice things about Dr Nickel , so I allowed her to be rude to me just to be able to have Dr Nickel as my dog’s Vet. What a mistake. Certain staff members are so rude. They are not flexible, they refused to allow me to talk to Dr Nickel directly. They seem more interested in how much they could charge versus the actual pet. I will gladly drive out of my way then to deal with people like that. If you’re looking to be belittled or chastised, this is the place for you. Dr Nickel was very Pleasant the one time I was able to actually meet him, he should really look into his staffs treatment of people. Terrible!"

"Was a pt for 14years, he dropped my very sick baby boy because I wanted a second opinion, he also refused to physically see him for over a year ,he just prescribed medication for him,Not only did he not care about his patients but the price for everything was outrageous,But I was willing to pay anything to help my baby get better. I would not recommend this vet at all and I don’t know how a doctor can just drop a patient because you want a second opinion,Just sad that he didn’t care a about leaving his patient with no doctor and is currently on a list of meds for for his kidneys. I hope he strives to do better for these animals and their owners"

"Everyone I know has left this place due to staff being rude especially his wife being the worse. I stayed because I thought he was a decent Dr. That all changed when I went for a second opinion on my pets health and care. They found out and dropped me as a patient when my pet was in need of treatment and care from a prescription the Dr gave. Ask yourself why a Dr would get upset over getting a second opinion. That makes their treatment questionable at best. I feel bad for anyone taking their loved pet to this place. The lack of empathy for your pet is astounding. I will join the dozens that have left and have nothing good to say about them. They only care about money and not treating your pet. Stay far away"
