Reviews
"Easy parking and a nice trail along the river with pedestrian bridges and views of the lower and middle falls."
"This place is great to go to and Chill in the car or go for walks. No one bothers you, you can do whatever you need to do. Police don't bother you either. They even have bathrooms to use! Don't pick the roses tho, that's the one rule they have."
"The rose gardeners really care about taking care of their plants. That part of the park is nice. There's a lot of random people who seem like they're just loitering in the parking lot for hours which is weird at a park. However, crossing the street to see the falls... You kind of know what you're in for given the surrounding area. There were pills and bullet casings on the sidewalk down to view the falls. It was hard to see the falls through the overgrowth - someone needs to take a machete to the thorns and weeds there towards the late summer. It's better to just look from the bridge."
"Maplewood Park is a hidden gem that offers a delightful escape into nature's embrace. When you drive into the park, on the left side is the rose garden that is being built. The lush maple trees along the park path bring a cool breeze in June and summer. Along the road, you can see the low and middle waterfalls of the genesee river. There is also a place where four pillars are carved. A variety of facial expressions surround a stool called Forgiving and Remembering (Seat of forgiving and Remembering). Autumn should be a breath taking trail for an unforgettable experience."
"Beautiful park in the Maplewood Historic District in Rochester. There is a beautiful rose garden, a statue in honor of Fredrick Douglass, beautiful open green spaces, trails, and Genesee lower falls. Easy walk on the Genesee Riverwalk trail to lower falls. The seat of forgetting and remembering is a must-see!"
