"After over a year of loyalty from their customers during a worldwide pandemic, the owners announce a mandatory summer academy 3 weeks before the summer started, and anyone who didn’t pay to attend was penalized the following year. Zero flexibility, despite how flexible and understanding we've been throughout the many years. In truth, this is par for the course in this studio that runs rampant with favoritism, is lacking in diversity, teaches for the competition not to build technique, and values trophies and awards over the mental health and well being of their students. The focus of the “leadership committee” is on how to best win awards at competition. Period. And these girls definitely feel the pressure to win. They may produce some beautiful dancers (if they decide your child is worthy of their attention), but they may also destroy their confidence and friendships they make along the way. In retrospect, we wasted 4 years where my child could have been growing as a dancer because she wasn’t one of the lucky chosen ones who was deemed worthy of their time and effort."
