About the Business

Harbor Child Care • Manhasset

Harbor Child Care in Manhasset is a trusted institution located at 306 Community Drive, Building 6, in Manhasset, New York. Situated on the campus of North Shore University Hospital, this center offers a nurturing environment for children aged twelve weeks to three years old. With a student capacity of 14 infants and 12 toddlers, the center follows the regulations set by the NYS Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) to ensure proper care and development.

The dedicated Center Director, Kristen Beckmann, oversees the Infant and Toddler program to provide the best possible care for the children. The pre-kindergarten program at Harbor Child Care utilizes The Creative Curriculum®, a research-based approach that focuses on individualized learning and development. The curriculum covers key areas of learning through play, encouraging children to become independent thinkers and problem-solvers.

At Harbor Child Care, the daily schedule offers a structured routine while also allowing flexibility to follow children's interests and needs. The center provides a balance of free choice and teacher-guided activities, incorporating math, technology, science, and art components in fun learning activities. With a focus on hands-on experiences, children develop problem-solving skills, social skills, and creative expression.

Parents who work at North Shore University Hospital appreciate the convenience of being able to visit their children during the day at the Manhasset Center. As children age out, they are referred to other Harbor centers in Nassau County for continued care. Harbor Child Care recognizes the importance of early childhood development and provides training for teachers to implement effective educational strategies.

In the words of Nelson Mandela, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." Harbor Child Care at Manhasset is committed to providing a supportive and enriching environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive.

"Love, love, love this daycare center. My daughter started at 4 months old and she is now 13 months. She loves everyone there and comes home with the cutest crafts. She practically jumps out of my arms to her teachers when I drop her off in the morning."

"Both my children went to this location. My son started in the toddler program in 2020 when everything reopened during Covid. My daughter entered a year later and started in their infant program. Kristen and staff took all measures in keeping their students and staff safe during Covid. With their efforts, my children never contracted Covid…even at the peak of omicron. I am truly grateful and appreciative to have found a facility and program that truly care and put the well-being of their students first. Aside from the high health-standards, my children have made tremendous emotional and academic developments while at the program. My son learned all his letters, numbers and color by age 2. My daughter developed language skills much earlier than my son, since she started in their infant program. Often times I would peek inside from the windows and I see teachers holding/cradling infants to sleep and/or playing with the toddlers. The teachers have also been so supportive during potty training. Both my children were potty trained by age 2 with their help. During holidays, the program is great with engaging with families. We had so much fun participating in trunk-or-treat for Halloween and enjoyed their Christmas musical performance through zoom. Through the engagements, we got to know other families and it was great seeing our children grow together. Worth mentioning as a final note is their playground. They have the best playground I’ve seen compared to other programs. They have an abundance of bikes/cars/balls. They also have a wonderful play set that’s perfect for toddlers. My daughter enjoyed laying under the shade in the playground as an infant as well."

"My daughter started going to Manhasset Harbor care since she was 4 months and it was the best decision we made! The teachers and the director have made it so easy and they are so wonderful. My baby girl comes home every day learning something new and it’s beyond what I could’ve imagined. We feel so comfortable sending her and the teachers are great in sending updates and pictures. We absolutely love this place!"

"My son has been attending Harbor Child Care Manhasset since he was 3 months old and I love it here so much ! With such a small center it feels like family when you walk through the door. You get greeted by all the teachers and it’s always very easy to talk to them. My son gets to experience a lot of new things with them too. They go on trips to really cool places 2x a month and also does fun projects with the kids. Theres always art to bring home. I Thank Harbor Child Care Manhasset and all the hard work those girls are doing for helping me raise my son into the smart, creative, outgoing, cheerful child he is today."

"My daughter started at Harbor when she about 10 months old. We have had only positive experiences with the center and her teachers in both the infant room and now in the toddler room which she joined recently. Her teachers truly care about her safety and well-being, and will work with you to correct any concerns. She learns so much daily at her school and loves her teachers and friends. Kristen the director is very reachable and responsive. Would definitely recommend this center."
