"We have asked our family and friends not to attend this year Nutcracker or any other events until dancers voices are heard and those fired for voicing safety concerns are rehired."
"Shameful! To hear that the Artistic Director berated a child, causing that child to sob is bad enough, but then to hear the Rehearsal Director exploding at a dancer for coming to the child’s defense is despicable. The Syracuse City Ballet Board is just as bad by ignoring these dancers concerns, ultimately leading to the dancers terminations. I sincerely hope that there is an outside investigation in this."
"The Nutcracker was a disjointed disaster. And now that we know the depths of the toxic culture at SCB, our family will never be seen attending a production. That, dears, is called a consequence to inexcusable actions."
"Really gotta have some stones to fire a bunch of dancers over striking for better conditions in this climate. Yet another example of terrible management killing local & regional performance company. I lol forward to seeing y’all get unionized!"
"If you're wondering if you should attend a Syracuse City Ballet show. Consider that this company has fired it's dancers for striking to improve their working conditions. Now ask yourself, do you want to see a show that a) is not being performed by the companies dancers, but whoever was available for temporary contract on short notice And b) is put on by a company that cares so little about the product they put out, that they'd rather gut the company than keep the people who are the very reason the company exists at all happy? The choice is yours."
