"I’ve known Coach Jeff for almost 2 years now. The love and dedication he has for the game is second to none. I joined TALA Soccer Training this past summer and It was the best decision I made. I had 1:1 individual training sessions with Coach Jeff at TALA up until my college season started. As a player who always wanted to do everything fancy, Coach Jeff corrected my flaws and taught me the importance of mastering the basics. He taught me how to read the game, and how to properly position myself. A couple of months later when my season started, it was fairly evident that I was levels above the competition. Half a paragraph does no justice as to how much I’ve learnt from coach Jeff on and off the pitch."
"My daughter has been a part of TALA Soccer Training for the past year and the results are outstanding. What differentiates TALA is their unique approach to personalizing the training to the player, physically and mentally. Starting with a get to know you call, Jeff really focused on her goals and areas of uncertainty. Jeff and his staff were able to incorporate those learnings into top notch skill and tactical drills. The attention to not only ball skills and off ball field awareness, but also building confidence in a young developing player made us believers in the program. The coaching is full of enthusiasm and positive reinforcement. We saw a progressive improvement in areas she wanted to focus on and an increased love of the game. We were also pleased when Jeff checked in during the school season to make sure my daughter was reaching the goals she set. Looking forward to the next sessions."
"While we were in the Albany area this summer, my 14-year-old daughter trained withJeff Ryan at TALA Soccer Training. She has been playing soccer for about 10 years at one of the top clubs in the San Francisco area, and Jeff Ryan is by far the best coach she has ever worked with. I wish he was in the Bay Area so we could keep working with him. My daughter plays in the most competitive league for her age group, and needed to improve several of the skills that are crucial to her role as a center back, especially after missing a month of training due to illness and travel. We were headed to Albany for a week. I made some inquiries to leagues in the area and feel very fortunate to have been referred to Jeff. He worked with my daughter six days in a row for 90-minute sessions (though we often went to two hours). Before she arrived, she filled out a questionnaire, and he interviewed her on the phone, so that he could design a training program customized to her specific needs. Importantly, he doesn't focus just on physical skills, but provides a balanced program of, as the TALA website says, "the technical, tactical, physical, and cognitive pillars of soccer." On the cognitive side, Jeff worked with my daughter on her fear of making a mistake (as a center back, if a striker gets past her there's a high risk of a goal), and on keeping her mind on the current play rather than replaying what just happened. He has a deep understanding of all elements of the game. Jeff taught her how to better direct headers, and worked with her on distance and accuracy for long balls. He trained with her in a very high-energy, fast-moving simulation of real playing conditions. Jeff also trains coaches, and for several of the days he was joined by a college-age coach trainee who plays on a D2 team herself, so the three of them were able to do more realistic training. Jeff has an incredibly positive, upbeat attitude, and brings high energy and hard work to his training. Each time we arrived, he had the field extensively set up with cones, agility poles (on some days) and other equipment. Jeff communicates very well and shows a lot of concern for the success of his trainees. He even followed up with us after we returned to San Francisco to see how my daughter did in a tournament. Anyone looking for a trainer in the Albany / Halfmoon area would be very fortunate to be able to work with Jeff."
