"Professor Rob Gutierrez and his wife Professora V, are great! Together they have tons of BJJ knowledge. I’ve been cross training with the both of them for years. Now I bring my students to his academy to cross train. Great training atmosphere, good energy. If your in the area stop by and see for yourself"
"Prof. Rob is an amazing instructor. He is able to explain in specific detail how and why each movement is done in a certain way. A class is not just “the move of the day,” but an in-depth study of a position—spider guard, taking the back; side control; x-guard; etc—and all the different possible transitions from each position that can be achieved through proper form. He truly is a “Professor” of BJJ, and I highly recommend training with him."
"Great environment to learn jiu Jitsu! Every time I visit, I am welcomed by the coaches and students alike and treated as one of the team. Coach Vianca hosts the ECU women’s open mat, creating an opportunity for women from other schools/affiliations to come together, learn new technique, and create new partnerships. The coaches are always open to help and answer questions. Highly recommend stopping by for a class!"
"Trained with a number of different instructors and Rob G and his team are hands down the best. Their level of detail is unmatched. Rob regularly rolls with his students and does it at the appropriate level. While they stay on top of all new and emerging styles, they always gear towards practical Jiu Jitsu that can easily translate to MMA or a street situation. All students are welcoming and treat EVERYONE with respect. If you are experienced or a first timer, this is the place to go."
"I've only been going to this gym for a month now, but I'm really glad that I chose to attend ECU Queens. It's my first time doing BJJ and this gym is very beginner friendly. Professor Rob and the coaches are great, they are all very helpful and you can tell that they genuinely want you to do your best. As a woman, I love how there are so many other women to practice with, all the students are welcoming and helpful too. I couldn’t imagine going to another gym."
