Despite facing challenges and threats, Sifu Doug persevered and eventually established the institute in 1996. Offering classes in Combat Tai Chi Chuan, Arnis-Kali-Eskrima, Karate, grappling, and kickboxing, the institute has produced world champion stick fighters and continues to train talented martial artists. With a belief in a higher power, discipline, hard work, and community support, the Village Mixed Martial Arts Institute is a place where students can find joy, confidence, and happiness through martial arts training.

"If you want to experience genuine martial arts taught by world-class instructors, this school fits the bill. Philippine Martial Arts is the primary art form; however, T'ai Chi Ch'uan and children's Karate programs are also available. The school's director is Guro Doug Pierre, an Arnisador and former World Champion since the early 80's. His lineage reaches back to Remy Presas, among other prominent arnisadors. The school's rates are reasonable and the facility is immaculate."
