"An awfully horrendous place! I enrolled my child to this agency thinking it has few offices in NYC and out of NY state as well, therefore would be well equipped with knowledge and training. The staff members worked reasonably until the assessment was done. Their real drama began only after my child received the approval from the insurance. After two months of her approval they finally assigned my child a therapist for only 4 hours a week (2 hours a day for 2 days in a week) when my child had approval for 31 hours/week. I repeatedly requested to put my child on full schedule to the BCBA (Tatyana) and the staffing manager(jessy). However, they only provided me with excuses like “we are understaffed”, “we will put your child on full schedule by next week”, “it will be too overwhelming for your child to do 26 hours a week”. So much double speaking was unbearable and unacceptable. After wasting 3 months with A Friendly Face I transferred my child into another agency where she is doing 26 hours/week. Later I found from the insurance, even though they barely provided services to my child, they billed for all 31 hours/week to the insurance. It’s not only unethical but also a criminal act. I would never recommend this place to any parent. Children deserve professional care provided with honesty and integrity. This place is too far from that."
"One of a kind autism treatment center. They offer clinic and home based services as well as social skills! The have highly trained BCBAs and the clinical staff really care about each individual."
"A Friendly Face is an excellent organization with highly trained professionals. They provide high quality ABA therapy and I would recommend them to anyone who wants to see improvements in their child."
"I have to say there are not a lot of places that provided ABA services on Staten Island especially one that thrives on working not only with the child but also the parents. They offer parent training classes and resources to help your child at home. Staff is attentive and aim on assisting your child with the best services for their therapy. I would definitely recommend them."
"My friend went on a tour Saturday, July 20th. During her experience she felt that it was unprofessional for a huge agency because she made an appointment and when she arrived a therpist opened the door for her not asking why she was there Or What they can do for her. The reception desk was empty. My honest opinion is that its unsafe for the staff and children to let anyone into the building with out any questions on why they are here. they told her give them 10 minutes until the teacher gets ready, after she already made an appointment with them. My friend had some concerns about how they ran their school after seeing the children sitting on the couches in the waiting area. They told her the group was suppose to be out side but it was hot. She wondered what do they do during the winter. During her tour, she seen that they only had one big room and one small room. She didn’t see any tables for the children to eat their snacks or lunch on in the big room. That was one Of her concerns. She was shown the social group for high functioning and they barley had lights on it was very dark and they said the children are sensitive to the light. After her tour they told her they would call her to set up the assessment but they never called her. She called them up to see what was going on and the assistant said they decided not to move forward with her because she had some concerns. She told them she only wanted home therapy and they still refused to move forward with her. One of Her friends told them her concerns, and she is thankful that her children will not be getting services by people that run a poor business. It’s good to hear feedback, it’s how your business grows and helps the children in a positive way. Everyone has the right to have concerns and their own opinions. Especially when you have special needs children. You shouldn’t be shamed for that. I’m sharing this story because I’m shocked that they Refused to move forward with her because she had some concerns."
