Hyatt Place Poughkeepsie

"I stayed here for two weeks. The room was OK and the front desk staff were very nice and helpful except for one woman who was outright unfriendly. I was surprised that on my second day when I complained that my room was not cleaned. I was told that I had to request that at the reception desk. So I asked them to clean the room every day. During the two weeks the room was cleaned twice and the bed sheets were changed once. Absolutely horrible housekeeping and I am not really fussy !! The free breakfast was minimal but OK. Coffee is available all day. Other than candy and soda at the front desk. there is nothing available during the day or evening. the pool is nice but I only used it once . There is nothing within walking distance except for an Indian restaurant which I didn't try."

"My husband and I just stayed here for a 3 day getaway from NYC. Absolutely loved it. Place was immaculate and Samantha at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. Pool was spotless along with the beautiful fitness center. We walked the walkway over the Hudson and had dinner both nights at Shadows which is one of my favorite restaurants. Would definitely stay here again."

"So disappointed in the management. Hotel lost power and It did not come on until after dark. I went to the desk early on to talk to Amanda to see if we could get transferred to another Hyatt location, but there was not one in the direction we needed to be the next morning. I asked if we could be compensated for the inconvenience and, without hesitation, Amanda told us that we would be refunded in full for our stay. Given that there was a dog barking from 6:30 AM to 7:30 AM The next morning, we felt all the better that we were being refunded. As we were checking out the next morning, I went to the front desk to ensure that we were not billed, and there was no one there. There was a sign that said someone would be right back, but we waited five minutes and no one came. We were indeed billed ($196). Despite messages left at the location to speak with the manager, no one called back. I contacted corporate who spoke with the assistant manager, Jason, who said there would not be a refund because it was an act of God. There was no apology whatsoever for the fact that one of their staff members had promised us a refund. They would not even offer a voucher for future Hyatt stay. We will be taking our business elsewhere."

"I just want to thank the staff here so much, Samantha, Alyssa, Tom, and the other two ladies that work at night. All of them have been so kind and hospitable but Samantha and Alyssa both were there for me emotionally when they didn’t have to be. I’m going through a rough patch right now, and they listened and heard my pain and encourage and inspired me to be better and rebound quickly. Sometimes God puts the right people in your life no matter how brief, I thank them for being there when I had nobody else to turn to in this town. Beyond that, beautiful lounge and lobby, pool is kinda small, no hot tub unfortunately but the shower is nice, beds are great, nice room layout. I hope to come back!"

"Great place. Modern new and good value. We sent 5 days visiting family upstate. While we booked 1 month before they only had a handicap room which we booked. We arrived early but they were able to accommodate us. They were pretty full as many people come to the area to pick apples. The front desk asked if our visit was a special trip and I explained we were visiting family and it was our 53 anniversary. She said let me change your room to a better room which was a free upgrade. When she saw we had several suit cases she gave us a cart which was really a blessing. This place has everything including workout room and real breakfast. Every time we came in in or out we were greeted. The only issue was if you needed to go south you need to go 1/4 mile to make a U turn and often it is 3-5 light changes. We did discover a short cut going behind a storage company that accessed to traffic light saving a lot of time. Getting back and forth is difficult since the area is split but a bridge and traffic is terrible during rush hour where they switch lanes at certain time and it is a toll bridge. While nothing is inexpensive anymore you get a very nice place and great people I would recommend this place"
